As someone who grew up heavily impoverished as a disabled minority in the United States, this has been the America I've always known. It's been the America that all my friends have always known.
The one that disappears people. The one that let's minorities meet their end by the hands of police brutality and racists mobs alike. The one with loose child safety laws. The one where children vanish in adoption centers and foster care systems and unwanted children centers. The one where school kids fear being shot.
It's the America I've always known, because the same America where my cousin died to his genetic heart condition after being refused his lifesaving medicine while in jail, only for the jail to try to fake his suicide as an attempted cover-up.
It's the same America where I worked as a child laborer underneath my abusive mother's hand for sixteen years by the age of eighteen, because child labor laws are incredibly loose.
It's the same America where while doordashing as a teen I had various grown men hit on me, and was followed home multiple times by tweakers in the dark (I'm also 4'10" so it's not like they mistook me for an adult)
It's the same America where a kid took a loaded gun onto my brother's school bus, demanding to know where he was the day he walked home, because despite the fact he told the school that a student threatened to shoot him afterschool, they didn't do anything
It's the same America where I can name multiple people I know who were sexually assaulted as children in the foster care system.
It's the same America where people slowed down their car to shout the n-word with a hard R at my brother and I as we walked home from school.
It's the same America where my partner and I was kicked out of her mother-in-law's place for being gay (we're ace-lesbians)
It's the same America where my dad broke into tears after my brother made an edgy AIDS joke in middle school, because it reminded him of his cousin who died horribly to the disease during the AIDS epidemic
It's the same America where my dad was given the choice to die painfully and horrifically but live a few months longer, or die as soon as possible in the comfort of the hospital, because Medicaid wouldn't cover a plan that both allows him to live longer and die peacefully and painlessly.
It's the same America where I was taught stories of lynchings, slavery, human experimentation, overseas massacres, the trail of tears, forced sterilizations, and vietnam war.
It's the same America I've always known.
this zionist cuck is always getting bodied on his own show lmaooo
okay, I think I've got my gaming/study area layout finally figured out !!!
i was able to make a considerable amount of room on my desk, so now im able to actually comfortably take notes + type on my pc :')
so, im doing my undergraduate in sociology. my goal is to become a therapist. when i was younger, therapy saved my life. it made me who i am today, and i want to help people the same way my therapist did all those years ago
however, im not sure how sustainable therapy is in our current era. will it be enough to make a living? will i enjoy it? being a psychiatrist has always interested me as well, but, man... medical school. some of us are not able to do the things we want to do because of the lives we were given </3
psychiatrists make so much more than therapists, so i know i'd live comfortably if i did make it as one. but i do prefer the act of therapy more... ugh, its so unfair how we can only do one thing in life, isnt it?
i try to remind myself that money isnt everything. i always tell myself that id rather be doing something i absolutely love with average pay, than do something i dont like as much with a lot of pay
but its hard to tell yourself that when all you've known your entire life is poverty, and all you want is to get out of it.
to medical school, or not to medical school... that is the question
in the meantime, i'll focus on my intro to astronomy class. its keeping me sane. kind of.
Is he sure about that? Some of the richest people on this planet, are some of the dumbest motherfuckers you'll ever meet. Has he never heard of the phrase "more money than sense"? A very relevent phrase for the world we live in. These rich assholes are usually rich, becuase they were either born into it, cheated their way through life or stabbed all their freinds and collegeus in their back. They would have you bleive they worked for what they got, so very few of them have. They are lying frauds.
“People living in poverty are just not very, um, experienced at navigating the real world, right? I remember talking to one young lady who said, ‘Well, I don’t really know how money works at a grocery store,’ because she grew up and has lived all of her adult life using SNAP cards to buy groceries. …

hey I know this probably sounds like a half-sentiment, but I mean it with my whole ass heart.
despite it all, I will keep drawing hot queer furries. nothing is gonna take that from us. like I know that sounds silly but I really mean it. we will keep creating, fighting, existing... even if they don't want us to.
and this has been said a lot but as someone who checks practically all these boxes, not just an I love you, but I'm here for you, for the trans and nonbinary people, for the people of color, for the disabled, for the women, for the working class and impoverished, for the people with love in their hearts.
and I know, I know so very well that it's not gonna be easy to keep that love in your heart right now, but you need to, because I think our communities have lost enough. because that love can save not just you but those around you. and I'm not just saying "be happy :)", because you should be mad! we should all be mad! but just keep in mind that that anger only exists because we love and want to protect each other.
I'm as anti landlord as anybody, probably more than a lot of people after having me, my parents, and five of my siblings ages 3-10 forced to the streets by our old one when I was 5 because he couldn't up the price until we were gone, but y'all need to realize not every landlord is a millionaire renting out two dozen houses just because they want to. Some of them are just normal people who have no choice but to rent out their dead parents old house so their children don't starve to death. And until you recognize that, we can never end poverty or give everyone a house.
“Benefits” my ass.
These are mandatory forms for General Assistance, which pays for my rent, household needs ($45) and some food (100$).
I am disabled and have been fighting for SSI since 2017. Once I am eventually approved, I have to use my backpay to pay back a portion of this (about 1/3 of my backpay, my lawyer gets another 1/3, I get whats left).
In order to have housing (after YEARS of homelessness) I have to waive my rights to confidentiality for my own medical records.
Note that “phone bills” are misspent money. I am entirely reliant on someone else’s kindness to be on their phone plan. This had to be approved by my GA caseworker. I NEED a phone, not just for my dozens of appointments to manage my life threatening chronic health conditions and serious mental illnesses, but also to call the pharmacy, to call my landlord, DHHS, heating assistance programs, case management and therapy, AND, of course, for my monthly general assistance appointment. Yes. They REQUIRE me to have a phone AND I cannot pay for it. I have zero income since I’m unable to work anyways.
What happens if I “misuse” these theoretical funds? Federal prison time, a mandatory minimum of 1 year, PLUS disqualification of all government services for up to 5 years.
So yeah, “Benefits” my ass.
