Day 15: Failed Rescue Attempt

THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW!!!

I'm a little late to answer BUT!! SPIRAL THE CAT!! She's a longhair black cat with a tannish muzzle and spirals in her ears <3

Her story is that she's a ✨️conspiracy theorist.✨️ She was actually digging up information on the Phantom Ruby even before Infinite got his hands on it. She sounded like an absolute nut when she tried to convince everyone that Eggman was this 🤏 close to taking over the world. So she was kiiiinda vindicated when it actually happened.

When Sonic was supposedly killed by Infinite, she was the only person crazy enough to pursue leads to prove he wasn't dead. In my personal version of events, she would have met up with Rouge and passed on information about the Phantom Ruby and her theories about Sonic being alive, and then Rouge would have done her own excursion to the Death Egg where she finds Sonic locked up, and calls the Resistance about sending up a rescue party. The Resistance would have gone out to personally recruit Spiral for this mission, which makes her absolutely insufferable.

Because of her conspiracy-chasing and Zero's involvement with the Ruby, Spiral and Infinite go way back (that's why he spared her in the backstory cutscene). You'd think she and Sticks would get along, but they actually piss each other off 😂 it's just because their crazy theories contradict each other (suuuuper petty). They're rival writers in the same conspiracy magazines.

Probably not 😔 he'd be too relieved to have his baby back to catch any of the red flags. He'd probably get really mad at Nicky if Nicky growled at the imposter, too. The entire resistance might get hostile with him if he did.

A black cat! My nieces helped me make her <3 I didn't actually give her a name bc i'm bad at naming things 😂 As far as backstory goes, Infinite's mercenary group was hunting her before Shadow killed(?) them all. She was looking into the Phantom Ruby as a vigilante sleuth (conspiracy theorist), and Eggman sicc'ed his dogs on her for snooping.

Her story (really the Avatar story in general) sort of goes into this Forces rewrite I like to play with where Sonic was never rescued from the Death Egg and was replaced with a duplicate made by Infinite, to spy on the Resistance. Tails, Classic, and the Avatar find out about this and try to find out where the real Sonic is without tipping off the copy.

I like the idea of Infinite and the Avatar having personal history before the game begins, so in my cat's case she was either a friend or girlfriend of one of the mercenaries (maybe even Infinite's) before Eggman hired them and they tried to kill her. Anyway this makes the Sonic duplicate (who is Infinite, mind you) particularly interested in keeping an eye on her, which sort of reframes the buddy stages in the middle of the game as being rather insidious.

It would take her some time, but the minute Blaze clocks him;

I respect you lots and this was your idea, so I wanna do right by you.

Younger Sonic's first thought is to protect his bro I'm crying he probably could tell the same way he tracks in Black licorice and. My god may I stop sobbing soon.
