#impossible ask

There’s a jewelry ad running and running this holiday season. You’ve seen it I’m sure.

It’s a woman tackling her man with a joyful whoop. The scene cuts to her laying on top of him, fingering a diamond necklace she had obviously just received,

The man asks her if “she likes”. She laughs and replies, “little bit.”

Why I’m noting this very cliched advert:

I’ve gifted the women in my life with extraordinary things - from baubles to trips - and never once did they show the kind of genuine thankfulness that my gestures merited.

Given my feelings I’ve gone out of my way to express appreciation for their efforts.

I’m not looking for someone to simply pat me on the ass and give me continuous thank yous
