Aww, thanks! It’s nice to know that people are enjoying this. Sorry again about Americanizing the names, I very rarely have problems with memorizing anime names but for some reason I have this issue with Gakkou Gurashi. Weird. :P

As for the future of the blog, I’m gonna slow down my posts after I’ve finished posting my reactions for GG (mostly due to college). I’ve been considering sticking to relatively short anime (52 episodes would be too long, but I’d consider doing 26 episode series). I haven’t picked what anime to do next, though.

A few of the potential shorter anime (12-13 eps) on my list are Serial Experiments Lain, Spice and Wolf, Ef: A Tale of Memories, Natsume’s Book of Friends, and The World God Only Knows. Some of the potential longer anime (25-26 eps) are Cowboy Beebop, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Trigun, Samurai Champloo, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Carina suffers from multiple mental disorders on top of her weak immune system. 

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-traumatic stress disorder (sometimes also written Posttraumatic stress disorder, often shortened to PTSD) is an anxiety disorder. It can develop when people are severely harmed, or experience something extremely upsetting.

Carina’s PTSD developed over time but mostly manifests itself from The Bubonic Plague (otherwise known as ‘the black death’) that wiped out so much of Europe’s population. She herself fell ill from this multiple times while it was common and still has nightmares about it. It’s made her more than a little obsessive about keeping things clean and almost always carries hand sanitizer on her person.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Obsessive–compulsive disorder (often shortened to OCD) is an mental disorder that causes repeated and unwanted thoughts and/or feelings (obsessions) and actions (compulsions). Anxiety is one of the most common symptoms and can lead the individual to believe that if a task is not completed, something bad may happen.

This is a result of the above disorder. Her’s isn’t as extreme as it could be and she seems to live with it decently enough. It also helps that she does see a therapist about it almost once a week. For her it mostly appears in the form of constantly washing (and sanitizing) her hands, less she get sick. There’s also some unconscious organizing that she does but it’s not clear whether or not she’s noticed it.

Several Sleep Disorders (Common & Minor)

Every once in a while, Valerie could be seen digging into her pack for small tattered piece of paper. Reverently  she would open and read it, even if she had every word memorized. One time Daryl had asked about - observant that one - she shrugged it off and said it was nothing, but the sentimental smile that painted her features said other wise. Though he had never been the type to pry and left it at that. 

Ever since he rescued her, they had gotten close - well as close as anyone could get to a man so broken. She had always been drawn to the distraught, not to fix them, she just believed they all needed someone. As often as she could, she would attempt to be that someone. Maybe she wasn't for Daryl...but he knew she was there for him if he needed. This much she was sure of. 

Eventually she saw them, the scars that littered his body - mostly on his back. Could be anything really, she decided not to ask. Even she had her own scars, though you couldn't see them anymore. Their growing friendship had something stirring inside of her. That hope - from so many months ago, until eventually one time she pulled out that beat-up promise and had a pen in her hand.

One thing about her world today - it was unsure as it ever had been. Things changed, and fast. One minute you had your feet on the ground and next you were falling down a well. Whatever he had been through, she didn't think he needed to hold onto that pain. He could be a good person simply because that's who he was - he didn't need to feel the grief he was so wracked by to make himself better. Valerie had come to respect him quite a bit and often wondered if he realized just how much he meant to her. 

Daryl inspired her. That even after he had been through so much, he hadn't lost sight of who he was. That he could still be compassionate. This she took hope from, aspired to.
