   Somehow, somewhere, someone had told them about her. They knew she was alive and wouldn’t stop until either her body was found or she could be brought in. The latter is what came to pass, though that is not to say she tried her damndest to prevent it from doing so. Fighting with tooth and nail she hadn’t aimed to kill but the ONI forces were not permitted to leave without injuries. 

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. The job was supposed quick; they distract and she grabs the medicine and gets out. In the hectic first week no one went outside unless they were suicidal or had something to prove so in the apartment complexes people suffered. They would ration and trade food and goods, but medicine seemed to be in the shortest supply. So an excursion to steal from the local convenience store - the owner as tight as a stack of unmarked bills with a bomb on it - would never allow some teenagers to come buy cough medicine and Cheerios. 

So when the police came after them and they all scattered, the ginger had tried to get up a and over a fence through a junk yard. Just so happened that a trooper had been there investigating some thefts and she’d run right into him. Looking at the white walls, Amelia expected something worse; blood stains, a few bodies hell, even the gallows. But no, she was in this room with a two way mirror and a man who’d already been through hell. 

UNSC HOPEFUL 0200 hours, October 16th 2546:// Lucy's mind felt like it was drifting. Being fully submerged into the darkness, she had welcome the peaceful silence with open arms. It was until the the monotone beeping began. It disrupted her and started to make her head throb. It was getting annoying, the more frustrated she was getting the faster the beep increased until she slowly opened her eyes.

A dull pain blossomed in her eyes making her let out an unhappy groan. The rest of her body was numb from the medications in her system. Her head lulling back onto the pillow with a soft thump. Taking a small breath she forced herself to look around before her eyes settled on the nearest bed next to her. She couldn't help but crack a tired grin taking a shaking breath.
