I KNOW I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHEN PEOPLE DON'T LIKE SAM AND CAS

literally my two favorite moments are when cas was like "because he is my friend" whiCH WAS WAAAAAAAY EARLY ON, BEFORE HARDLY ANY SHIT HAD HAPPENED, AND YOU COULD TELL CAS DIDN'T HAVE VERY MANY FRIENDS, EVEN IN HEAVEN and like dean was ALWAYS going to be special to cas bc he raised him from perdition and they had that bond so dean was guaranteed (even tho they didn't get along instantly) but SAM!!!! sam was a VOLUNTEER to cas' friendship, who took cas in without really having a reason to, it's not like cas raised sam, and it's the first sort of genuine "i like you, and i don't owe you anything. i just like you and btw thanks for bringing dean back but that's not why i like you" feeling cas has ever had. 

AND SAM'S "it's cas" when he's reasoning with dean about how dean should go easy on cas and dean has too much pent up emotion to really see cas as cas and not someone who fucked up but SAM CAN! because sam has been there, like, 4000 times. they both MAJORLY fucked up, then in trying to fix it multiple times have only made things worse. and sam knows that it's all well intentioned and he knows how hard it is to try time and time again and end up seeing you haven't made it better. BUT he also cares for cas. sam can take dean's punches (both literal and verbal) but cas, even over the past few years he's been with the winchesters, isn't accustomed to that kind of treatment. yes, cas can throw a mean side-eye and can hold his own against dean, but when he's feeling vulnerable, he's vulnerable, and sam sees that and says "hey, he's one of us, chill out"

NOT TO MENTION (sry this is way longer than i meant it to be I JUST LOVE THEMS SOSDJOI MCUH) when cas is at that scene of the crime and sam is like ":) agent" and cas is like ":))))) agent" because it's not sam patronizing cas like "aw this guy is tryin so hard what a cutie" (although that is a little bit of it), it's sam playing along with the disguise, it's sam saying "alright, welcome aboard" and it comes so EASY and so PLAYFUL that cas can't help but be INCREDIBLY pleased with himself. the winchesters shut cas out sometimes (and vice versa) but cas has played into their hunting game--most of what he knows of how to be human comes from them, after all--so cas is basically auditioning and sam is saying you got the part AND IT'S SO FUCKIN CUTE
