Immersive Installation Takes Over a Japanese Botanical Garden Turning It Into a Surreal Dreamscape
Art collective group teamLab is known for transforming natural settings through unexpected and noninvasive means. After finishing their exhibition at Kairakuen Gardens in Okiyama, teamLab is setting up a new dreamscape in the Nagai Botanical Gardens in Osaka, which is set to debut this summer, 2022.

“MANIA”, the acrylic painting
THE ATTACK, 2019 by Marinna Shareef. (White light mode)
‘The Attack,’ is a maximalist installation that aims to immerse viewers into an intense sensory environment that is modeled after my bipolar mixed episode experience. With bright colors and unconventional usage of Trinidad-esque shapes, the bedroom stage setting attempts to mimic my experiences with psychosis, specifically my self mutilation visions in a less gory manner. It aims to educate viewers about my bipolar experience, and create informed conversations about the mentally ill in our local context.
DEN BOSCH – The Fish Pond Song – a video work by Jeroen Kooijmans at the Stedelijk Museum ’s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands – guides visitors through an imaginary world of war, propelled by narratives of fear, dreams and lust. Exhibited in its entirety for the first time, the more than 700-sq-m installation unfolds over three chapters, communicating war as an abstract reality – a lurking evil and psychological madness.
Kooijmans has been known to reference the often religious-themed work of medieval Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch. The Fish Pond Song is no exception; here, the artist draws on The Garden of Earthly Delights. Kooijmans’ work deals with the topic of faith in relation to the 2001 attacks on the Twin Towers. He tackles such themes as fanaticism, mania and war.
