Imaginal exposure for my OCD
I’ve been told by my therapist to write down a scary scenario (where I injure myself in the most brutal way), and then read it into a voice memo on my phone. I’m going to litsen to it on repeat for 30-40 minutes a day. And I’m anxious to evan start. becuase I hate the sound of my own voice, at least when I’m talking. And it’s hard because I feel so silly doing the whole thing.
And IF I get over that anxiety, I’m scared of what will happen when I listen to the recording. I’m scared that it will trigger more intrusive thoughts that are very violent. But I guess that’s the point. And 30-40 minutes is a long time for doing something scary!
