i think lesbian macdennis is so interesting in comparison to gay macdennis because the stigma around gay men is a lot different than lesbian women. homosexuality is demonized so deeply within men, it is a thing that is sinful and wrong and must be repressed. to even suggest that a man is gay is offensive. and mac subscribes to this belief so heavily, punishing himself and anybody else he perceives as gay.

but when we look at genderbent mac, i think it gets a bit more complicated. to a degree, lesbianism is more accepted. it's not viewed as legitimate, surely two women can't have a relationship together, but it's high fetishization in the media makes a degree of normality. so while female mac may not be willing to date a girl, the stigma of kissing a girl isn't as high as male mac kissing another man. a girl kissing a girl is hot; girls kiss each other all the time when they're drunk; girls kiss each other to practice for when they makeout with boys. all of these things are so much more normalized by society in a way that female mac could possibly also normalize in her head.

all this is to say that lesbian macdennis fuck a lot sooner than gay macdennis. lesbian macdennis has been fucking. and of course, mac doesn't view it as real, she would never consider what she and dennis are doing as real sex. mac is still plagued by internalized homophobia and pressures from her father. and that's not even getting into dennis' own internalized homophobia and need for validation that she would surely seek out in men.

Is that like... an intentional theme

i absolutely do oh my god

(this may become a long post and i apologize about that but i have watched so many movies and i love talking about movies)

my favorite movies are into the spiderverse and knives out, but those are admittedly very basic and seen by most people. but they're always worth a rewatch!

i've found that when i'm struggling to get into a movie but i still want to watch one, i really enjoy some silly goofy movies. varying a bit in genre but all lighthearted stuff. i'm a big fan of scott pilgrim vs the world, 10 things i hate about you, the lego batman movie, teenage mutant ninja turtles mutant mayhem, the unbearable weight of massive talent. and bottoms is one of the funniest movies i've watched in theaters and i highly recommend it.

for more serious stuff and stuff that i just really enjoy and find really captivating. i recently watched whiplash which is an absolute masterpiece. dead poets society is beautiful but it is heartbreaking. i love falsettos because im a big musical fan. i finally watched blackkklansman and i loved it so much. scream is a classic and such a good horror movie. the boys in the band is based off of a play so i really enjoyed it. i also highly recommend watching older queer movies and queer content whenever you can find it!

some final stragglers and just. movies i really enjoy and want to talk about. igby goes down is so good and i love watching it. i watched little miss sunshine as a kid and still love it. howl's moving castle is an anime that's really beautiful. i've only watched before sunrise, but i've heard great things about the before trilogy and am excited to finish it.

and also i will always recommend a wes anderson movie. i am such a big wes anderson fan. i love all wes anderson movies. fantastic mr fox, isle of dogs, the royal tenenbaums, and the darjeeling limited are all wes anderson movies i've recently rewatched. he just makes beautiful movies and i love them.

Everyone and yourself knowing you love wrong compared to everyone else will never be easy or fully positive and I have to still work every day to be ok with it

i am such an unapologetically queer person and i love that about myself. being aro is included in my queer identity, and i just. love being queer. so fully. i do. and being queer is never easy, but there is always some joy to find in it.

but being aro is such a specific type of queer struggle that is so hard to get past sometimes. being seen and understood as so fundamentally different from everybody around you. and like. being aromantic has such a connotation of lacking something. i don't have this basic thing that everybody else around me seems to have and seems to flaunt.
