CW for child abuse and substance addiction
so I'm a lil hesitant to say this bc spiderverse is first and foremost miles' movie, and we see it from his perspective. so anything we know about miguel, it seems like we learn alongside miles (and gwen since we got her pov too in astv)
but I can't stop thinking about the writers saying that movie migs is an iteration of his '92 comic run, and if they keep his backstory it means movie migs also had an abusive childhood and somehow found himself addicted or reliant to whatever he's injecting himself with (which is assume is rapture). the difference is in the comics when he became spiderman the addiction went away but in the movies he's clearly still using it
this makes me....nervous? because I'll be honest and say it was def a choice to have him beat on a 15 year old if they are indeed going w his abusive childhood backstory. re: the injections, I wonder how they'll frame it or reveal what it is.....and I can only HOPE AND PLEAD its handled all right
spiderverse has handled miles and Gwen's story decently and I hope they do the same w miguel
again like...we have NO IDEA how his arc is gonna go. we don't even know his backstory in the movie version or if they're gonna do w that. I'm just. very like...pls treat him right narrative please please please
