I was called a "bitch", a "fag", a "homo", and *said with disdain* a "lesbian" before I even knew what sex was ✌️✌️✌️

if anyone ever comments on my naming my future children after actors i can retaliate by saying my parents did that with me

I'M ABOUT TO GO ON THE BIGGEST RANT
So, as we all know, there have been groupie rumors that have surfaced from the very start of the boys' careers and it upsets everyone. It's come to the point where people (meaning fans) are so touchy to the subject that it's said not to be mentioned at all because it upsets the boys and the fam. But lately, the fam are becoming so much more open about it because it's absolutely a huge issue.
Honestly, it's their lives, they can do whatever they want to do in the end. That's fine, I give them my best wishes. But it's also hard for people who really idolize them or look up to them or have good morals. You know, if you have good morals and high standards, it's hard to watch and hear disgusting rumors about four boys that you have fallen head over heals for.
I mean, they preach about how they want to be different, they don't want to be like everyone else, they're doing their own thing, and yet they fall into the worst stereotype possible. "All bands and artists have groupies". OKAY but that doesn't make it right. If that's true, why is it such a big deal suddenly for 5sos to have them? I think it kind of objectifies females, even if it's consensual. They want to have fun while they're touring the world and meeting new people. But, they say that they don't believe they're famous or that they're popularly known. They also say they're absolutely horrible around girls. We all known that is 100% FALSE. They just sit there and lie about it in interviews and I don't honestly know why they say stuff like that anymore because they all know that we know.
This issue really just bugs me because I don't want to look at them that way. You know, 3/4 of them came from a Christian school and one of their moms was on tour with them for an extended period of time. They're allowed to have fun, but I believe they just use their fame as an excuse to get girls. As humble as they claim to be, why else would girls want them if they were so "unwanted" before the band? The girls they hookup with are the girls who expose them and openly tweet stuff like "You go from a 4 to a 9.5 for being in a band" and "when we were in cvs with ashton he pulled like a couple hundreds out of his wallet i was so attracted to him for a second...". I know that all bands, not just them, like groupie types because there isn't any commitment and they don't have to worry about that. But, in an interview specifically with Ryan Seacrest, he joked saying that the boys would be okay with a girl only liking them just for being in a band. The boys all exchanged a look and objectified before adding that they all wanted a girl to actually like them for who they are, for sure, and not for being in a band. It kind of messes with you when you're left wondering if that's just a lie or if they really mean that...
Unfortunately, that's just how it is. It's not new, it's not uncommon. It's just how it is and in the end, it's their lives, they're entitled to live how they please. But i know that everyone agrees with the fact that they hate that the boys do this. And I know no one will admit that it bothers them more than they're letting on about. Everyone so badly wants to look the other way, but because we know it's true, in the back of all our minds, we all know that it bugs all of us. Whether you believe in it or not, accept it or not, we don't want to see people we look up to and support, doing things so low. Because for one, it's dangerous, and two, it shows something about their lack of own self-respect. Because, don't we all selfishly believe our feelings are more than just an obsession? Don't we all believe that we actually do love them? It's an odd feeling.
Good morals were lost in the world and that's my point. It really sucks because you can't push your beliefs on people, but because so many people in the media and so many celebrities who people look up to do this stuff, and it makes people believe that this is the norm. Things weren't always like this. And it honestly saddens me to know the truth specifically about four people who seem to be the nicest and most respectful people in the world, make such heinous decisions... Mostly because it starts drama and it makes their own fans turn on each other. Not to mention the fact that the girls they go for are rude back and feel completely entitled on top of rubbing it in everyone's faces.
This is all i have to say. Remember that it is MY opinion and no one has to agree with it. But I know that people talk about it like they disagree with the idea so I thought I would just throw this out here. ***And again, NO hate at all on the boys. It's an issues that many others share the same opinions on.***
The only upside to getting screwed over in your high school theatre department is that you can embrace your failure in college.
