What really gets me about your fic is that you’re able to write about difficult times in relationships (jealousy, rumours, angst, etc.) without ever making their relationship feel unhealthy. They go through difficult shit, and they don’t always deal with it perfectly! But there’s always so much compassion in the relationship and they always end up dealing with things so well. I know I’ve definitely read some fics that deal with the same issues in a way that makes me cringe and feel uncomfortable with the relationship, or deal with it too well so it just feels like an insincere therapy session, yet you manage to write it perfectly!
omg…… as someone with a human development degree you have no idea how much this means to me for real. literally the best compliment i could ever be given holy shit. i attribute my eduction for the reasoning why i think it comes across this way for sure. i know how far to take an argument or emotional situation without making it incredibly detrimental and how to have characters discuss important topics without it feeling disingenuous. but one of my absolute MUSTS for writing this fic was to create a relationship that felt real in the sense that it was filled with both the good times and the bad (on top of, y’know, extreme trauma). steve and the character of the reader are by no means perfect people, but they’re perfect for each other. they have what the other person needs while simultaneously having room to grow themselves. they’re so stupidly in love so they’ll do whatever it takes to keep each other around so they’re willing to apologize and be introspective and think about what it was they did wrong, etc. literally has made my day to know that the effort i’ve put in has come across. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
