Starflyer John Jackson: This was for a kickstarter children’s book written by Steven Shaw. He wanted something that evoked Star Wars without being too grown up, so I went a little bright and painterly.

Little Bunny Bed: This needed a totally different treatment, because it was a bedtime story for toddlers (written by Karen Johnson). I went with natural media this time - colored pencils - and the client asked for a look that evoked the old Waldorf school art design (i.e. lots of circles and swirls). 

Discovery Girls Magazine: Below: These faces were my illustration “audition.” Upon submitting these, they hired me, and I drew for the magazine for 2 years before they went out of print. (Alas.) 

Board games and RPGs: For two years, I did graphics and illustration for games, which was fun (if also stressful). The projects had pretty much nothing in common artistically, as you can see...

And finally, my current gig: creating training assets for the fed (most of which I can’t show you). Sometimes, they let me play: 

Sometimes, I also get some time to do commissions, which I love. This one, in which a triple moon priestess heals an inquisitor, I completed last week for a dear friend:

You can probably see where one might begin to lose one’s illustrative identity in the midst of all this, but that’s one of the reasons I’m so thrilled to be in fandom again. I feel a little like I’m rediscovering myself, and considering drawing for Harry Potter fandom is how I got on this career path to begin with, I’m feeling at home drawing for Carry On. :)
