the colors of the episode slowly start fading to just black and white like in the first few episodes of the untold origins arc up until the part where ranpo got his glasses

and tHEN

from then on the rest of the episode is just black and white uNTIL

the part where ranpo tells her that there is a place where she will be allowed to live

and at the moment ranpo says "there is", her world (and the episode) very slowly starts gaining its colors back like veryy slowly like

the colors are flickering faintly like how she's starting to have this little flicker of hope when ranpo said that there is a place that will accept her and allow her to live freely

and when ranpo says "it's your kindness that means something", when she finally cries, the episode and her world burst back into colors

and that theme is probably:

the two people who have the most confusing relationship because it's up to the interpretation of the people around them but they all know that those two care for each other so much that they're willing to do anything for each other

are they just friends? or are they romantically involved? what if they're actually married and none of their friends know? who knows? the important thing to know is that they're soulmates. in every sense of the word. they love each other. no questions asked.
