Agueweed - makes enemies confused

Angelica root - for curses and hexing

Asafoetida - for casting hexes on a person. Sometimes referred to as the devil’s incense, it is burned to force someone to leave you alone

Balmony - a plant in the figwort family that is ground up and used for hexing

Bindweed - curses/hexing domination

Bird’s Eye chilis - from the Solanaceae (nightshade) family used for cursing, heating up spells, and in powders like hot food powder and goofer dust

Blackthorn thorns - thorns are traditionally used for cursing and protection. The thorns of the blackthorn tree have long been used in witchcraft for pricking wax or cloth poppets to curse an intended victim.

Black berry root - This is long used as a protection herb but can also cause bane.

Bladderwrack - When placed near an enemies bathroom it is said to cause that enemy to be stricken with irritation of the urinary tract

Bloodroot - If you are looking for a substitute for human blood use the root to make a decoction or tincture. Can also be used for general curses.

Blueberry - Causes an enemy strife when thrown at their doorstep.

Boneset - To burn as incense and to use during cursing

Chicory - used for curses, bringing discord and baneful practices.

Chili powder - for discord and cursing, used in hoot foot powder.

Cinquefoil - burn over a poppet of your enemy to cause discomfort

Hemlock - discord, cursing, bring sadness

Henbane - will cause illness, discord and melancholy

Jezebel root - used in the famous jezebel curse, but can be used in other curses or to common and compel.

Knotweed - used in conjunction with balmony herb (purple sage) in cursing. To be rid of an enemy, stuff into a black cloth or poppet and sew up then bury away from your home.

Lime or Lemon - to sour someone’s life

Lobelia - brings discord

Mace - cursing and hexing

Mandrake - cursing and hexing, is also a powerful tool of manifestation

Black Mustard seed - for cursing and hexing, causes strife and unrest.

Belladonna (deadly nightshade) - cause an enemy discord or illness

Onion - cause strife and tears

Patchouli - sickens enemies when used in chants and spells

Poke root - confuse enemies and cause discord.

Poppy seed - cause arguments

Rue - although it is great protection for the owner, in turn, rue placed near another person puts a great hex on them.

Spanish Moss - used to give bad luck

Slippery Elm - Use to separate a married couple when buried near their door.

Sumac - for curses, hexing, bringing bad luck

Tormentil - to cause distress, harm and discord to a foe, sprinkle this on a picture of her or him and place it in a box.

Vetiver - silences ones who speak ill of you

Vervain - spells used to contact and speak with lucifer are the most effective when using this herb. Also used for conjuring evil spirits and demons, as well as placing curses

Wormwood - for cursing and hexing your enemy

Yew - used for contacting spirit but also used for cursing

✨ Today is Friday the 13th. A perfect date for this post as I want to write something about slavic superstitions and old wives tales. And, as we all know, there is always something true in all old wives tales. Well, there was a reason they were told. I will also tell you something about making your own lucky amulet for days like this

✨ Most popular, still believed in and practised are:

eating mushrooms and poppy-seeds on Christmas - poppy was a connection with Nawia, slavic Nether. All Christmas dishes were typical for funeral meal

no welcome or goodbye on the treshold of the house as it brings bad energy - always do this either in or out of your house

✨ As a protection from evil powers and bad luck Slavs made their own amulets called nawęza. It was little pouch with things closest to the person that was wearing it. Nawęza was wore as a necklace or was tied to the belt. Old Slavs usually put in their amulets animals fangs, feathers, magickal stones (especially hag stones), shells and herbs.

✨If you want to make your own nawęza, you can make it with little pouch with little things that make you feel powerful, safe or brings you luck. There are three types of nawęza:

❤️ nawęza of love - put there the closest things that belongs to the love of your life: hair and nails. Add two tangled red ribbons, rose quartz, mugwort and lovage. Spray it with musk oil and keep close with you or sew into your partner's clothes.

💎nawęza of wealth and prosperity - put there few wheat grains, acorns, some money, wallnut, leaf of mint and sunflower petals. Keep close with you.

🌿 nawęza of cleansing - put there garlic, quartz, sand, little piece of salt (not grinded), St John's wort and marjoram. Keep close with you or put under your pillow.

✨ Good thing to put on your own nawęza is magick symbol. It may be typical slavic symbol or symbol of your beloved goddess/god/entity. Typical for slavic nawęza would be one of these symbols:

Swarga/swarożyca/swarzyca or kołowrót (turnstile) - symbol of Swarog, the divine blacksmith. This symbol is also a slavic uroboros, snake eating his own tale. Arms of swarga are going on and on in the circle like sun and moon. Eight arms are a reminder of eight holidays important for slavic witches through the year. It was common symbol found above the doors or on cribs. It protects from evil in forms of illness, demons and bad luck.

Triskelion - known for Celts but also for Slavs. It was believed triskelion is a symbol of Weles, known as Three-headed god. Weles is a god of Nawia, to which leads a spiral way which was a metaphore of life.

Six-petal rosette - most popular symbol of Perun, the god of thunder, but also warriors. It was a protection from thunders and lightnings, placed inside the house, mostly on roofs or windows. Wear this symbol when you need to feel your inner strenght (for example before important interview).

Lunula - known for ancient Romans, but also for Slavs. It's a symbol of Mokosza, Mother Earth, patron of all women. It's good for love spells and rituals, helps with beauty and protects from health issues typical for women.

Symbol of Veles - a letter V that makes a triangle with added horns. God of Nawia, patron of cattle, god of magic and divination. It was also believed that a bear is an incarnation of Weles, so you can also use a bear paw as his symbol.

Hands of God - symbol of Perun, it is believed that four arms of this symbol are four powerful hands of Perun and each is reaching for each side of the world. It's used as a symbol of protection and inner strength.

Sun Cross/Solar Cross - symbol of Świętowit, most important god in Slavic pantheon. He is a god of all creation, the world maker. Circle means Earth divided by four seasons. It means the beginning of the world. Wear it when you need calm, harmony and inner peace.

On today's Folk Magic Friday I'm gonna write something about slavic magical herbs. I've picked three most known magical herbs.

🌿 Artemisia Vulgaris - mugwort.

Very important herb which was tied to dresses or belts as a protection from curses and magic in general. Second thing about mugwort was that old Slavs believed in it's power which was attraction of love and desire. Mugwort was in every flower crown that was made at Kupala's Night.

Now mugwort is recommended for stomach problems and menstrual cramps. Helps with indigestion and also supports our liver's functions.

🌿 Betula L. - birch.

By old Slavs birch was called a tree of health, femininity and rebirth. Birch trees were praised by all spring time. People believed these trees were full of magic and were sacred. At that time even name of March (in Polish - Marzec) was different and was in honour of birch - Brzeźń (birch in Polish is brzoza). People gathered around birches and performed rituals connected with rebirth of nature in spring, femininity and delicacy. They even hit each other in a funny and playful way with birch little branches which was for fertility and good harvest in upcoming season.

The Catholic Church took that tradition and at The Feast of Corpus Christi birch branches are always at altar. At the end of procession you can take one branch home for good harvest and fertility.

Birch is also used in herbal medicine, it's very helpful with UTI. Birch also has detoxifying properties for our blood circulation system. And also it's very helpful in therapy for psoriasis and seborrhea.

🌿 Tilia - lime tree.

In Slavic mythology also known as "the sacred tree of Slavs". It was important in a lot of rituals. Under the lime trees were performed rituals and dances. Old Slavs loved to rest under this tree because it was believed that lime tree can give you prophetic visions and dreams. Oh, and also a perfect nap. And because of that old Slavs were also making coffins from tilia. It was believed that coffin like this will give your soul rest and peace.

Now lime tree is best known for it's honey taste and sweet teas, perfect for running nose and cold, but also for UTI. Recommended for sore throat, flu, quinsy and state of nervous agitation.

But also! Dried lime tree's flowers are amazing as incense and has honey, soothing aroma 🐝

Today I’m gonna talk about the ✨Magic of HONEY ✨

Honey has a very old historical story. It’s been documented that humans foraged for it, between 8,000-10,000 years ago. It has so many uses in history, from embalming the dead, to being a potion of immortality, and so much more!

Honey, from a medicinal perspective has many healing properties. From easing symptoms of respiratory issues, to healing wounds and treating ulcers, honey has been used for its phytonutrient-rich and antioxidant loaded power. It has antimicrobial and antifungal properties, as well as implemented as a topical antibiotic.

Honey used in magic is used to sweeten your situation up. From attracting luck and wealth, to strengthening love bonds. Honey is also a terrific offering for any goddesses you may venerate that are associated with love, beauty, flowers, earth, etc. Honey, is considered to contain the essence of Freyja. It is also heavily associated with Aphrodite, and Brigid. I keep vials of honey from my hives on my altar for Freyja and Brigid. Honey is also used in vitality/health rituals to promote health and healing.

HONEY INFUSIONS IN THE KITCHEN:

A powerhouse potion that is sometimes overlooked these days is infused and/or fermented honey. Honey never spoils. In a sealed jar, honey will last hundreds of years- if not longer. This means it is a great medium for infusions. Dry materials are best for infusions. However, garlic infused honey is a wonderful tonic for viral infections, potency booster for spellwork, and it’s delicious to cook with and infuse intentions into your cooking.

Lavender, rose, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, and more are all favorites for me to infuse into honey. Lavender for healing work. Rose for love, self love, passion and sensuality. Ginger, garlic, and cinnamon for wealth, luck, prosperity, power, success and vitality. To dry infuse: fill a jar about 1/3 way full with dry herbs and pour honey over the herbs. Allow it to settle and add more to top off if needed. Seal the jar and store for about a month. Strain by warming it slightly by placing the jar in warm water (above 180° will start to kill off beneficial bacteria and medicinal properties of honey, so be mindful of temperature) and pour the mix straining with cheesecloth. For fresh infusions, like garlic and ginger: I’m going to include a link from Yang's Nourishing Kitchen for fermented recipes, as this process with fresh roots and such require more care as fermentation is a little trickier than a dry infusion.

Use infused or regular honey in all you do! I use honey daily in my coffee. As I pour my honey into the cup, I pour my affirmations and manifestations into the cup. Stir to the right to bring forward my desires or needs. Stir to the left to remove/banish.

Honey can be used to cook in almost anything. Sweet, savory, spicy. Honey is a delicious addition to any kitchen potions. I prefer using honey to sugar almost always.

i call this the release and receive candle. the full moon is the perfect time to let go of what’s not serving you and to receive what the universe has waiting for you

1 candle - you can use whatever is available to you, but i used a plain white taper candle. if you use a tealight, i suggest melting it a bit with a hair dryer to help things set in the candle

bay leaves - you’ll need some for the candle and some for the ritual

lavender - i can’t find my lavender so i substituted oil in place of flowers

salt

moon water - i use this for cleansing so if you prefer to do a smoke cleanse or to cleanse your candle in salt for 24 hours that’s fine, too!

a few affirmations relating to releasing things that no longer serve us and receiving abundance

𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗼𝗻𝗲

cleanse your candle! i use moon water and a soft cloth, but you can use smoke, salt, or even the moon itself!

𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝘄𝗼 (optional)

carve your sigil into your candle. this is a sigil i’ve created specifically for release and receive, but you can swap it out or leave sigils out entirely for other candles. the star signifies where i started and the lines are where i ended

𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲

oil up that candle! there are a lot of preferred methods, but my usual favorite is picturing myself as the wick so to release i go from the wick down and to receive i go from the bottom to the wick. because this is for both i alternate top to bottom and bottom to top with the olive oil as i work my way around the candle

𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 (optional)

crush up your herbs. some people don’t and prefer to use whole bits and that’s fine. i prefer to mostly crush things with a mortar and pestle

𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲

take your mixture and coat your candle with it. if you’re using another oil like lavender, do that before pouring the dry mixture on the candle.

𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘀𝗶𝘅

let it set! i like to give mine at least a couple hours before using it, but you can do these weeks in advance if you’d like

𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻

when the time comes to light the candle, take the extra bay leaves and write down the things you would like to release. burn them using the flame from the candle. take the paper and write a small list of things that you’re grateful for. repeat your affirmations three times while the candle burns. if you have the time, reflect on what you’re releasing and what would be different without them, and on what things could bless your life right now until the candle burns out, or do a gratitude meditation!

Last week I asked you what should I write about next. You choose Marzanna, the goddess of death and also the celebration of begginning of spring 🌺

Marzanna (in other countries called Morana, Morena, Mara or Marana) is a goddess of death, but also of rebirth. She is a fiancee of Jaryło, which is a god of fertility and harvest. They are the opposites of each other. When one is dying, the other one is born. After their marriage Marzanna finnally dies one more time and does not reborn again, but Jaryło does, as a solar god 🌿

Marzanna was imagined as a lady on an empty, green meadow, with geese. Around the meadow there is floating, dark water. It was believed that in the afterlife your soul would change into a bird-type shape, like a goose, and you will be on a green meadow. It is beacuse of birds movement as a seasons change – lots of birds leave our country for winter and come back for spring – like for example stork, which is known as a sign of spring.

Water around the Marzanna’s meadow is a symbol, border between the living and the dead. Water is also connected to chaos and death, but also new beggining, ressurection and rebirth. This meadown on island is a perfect place for dead souls that can become birds or, in other books, cattle. Death and rebirth. Dead soul became a goose or a cow 🌿

Marzanna is also a doll or a effigy made of straw wrapped in cloth. People add some ribbons to it, some blown eggs, flowers, fresh or made of paper or blotting paper. In my distric Marzanna’s effigy looks like an old lady, but there are also versions of young Marzanna with flower wreath. In some places (like for example Silesia) there is also a male version of Marzanna, Marzaniok. Important part of Marzanna are golden keys to paradise, which are sometimes added to whole effigy 🌿

People usually walk with Marzanna at the edge of a village or town and drown the effigy in the river or any water nearby. It is also a symbol of Marzanna going back to the nether, into the Great Ocean. Drowning the effigy was also a ritual for making spring come earlier and to ensure good harvest in upcoming year. In some districts Marzanna is burned first, then drowned. In some districts there is also a tradition – after drowning an effigy people raced back to the village. Last person should expect death in upcoming year.

Catholic church tried to forbid this tradition, first attempt about it in written documents is from 1336 year, but people do this still today. Fun fact: the church tried to change this tradition into something, of course, more Catholic, so they proposed new tradition – throwing an effigy of Judas from the church tower. Somehow it didn’t work 🌿

With Marzanna goes second tradition, which is gaik. People carry boquets of greens, twigs and branches, sometimes also with ribbons and blown eggs, as a symbol of rebirth. It was a tree of rebirth, carried from house to house for good luck and prosperity. Sometimes it’s attached to Marzanna’s effigy. In some regions people first drown Marzanna out of town, then come back with gaik as a symbol of spring 🌿

The great power of moldavite is it's connection to the heavens, it's formation being the result of a meteorite impact. But there is nothing particularly special about moldavite that other impact tektites don't have. An emerging popular substitute to moldavite is Libyan Desert Glass, which has a citrine color, a brownish to greenish yellow (pictured). These you can get in much larger pieces for a much lower cost than moldavite, and they pretty much have the exact same spiritual qualities as moldavite. They pretty much are just like moldevite, including minute bubbles and ripples on the surface. The only difference is it isn't green, i.e. it doesn't have traces of aluminum oxide in the silicate crystalline structure.

Unlike moldavite, there is a much larger quantity of Libyan Desert Glass between Libya and Egypt. It is a lot easier to find, and therefore less destructive to the environment to mine for... in fact, it barely needs to be mined, unlike moldavite which needs extensive mining. Furthermore, it has been used for thousands of years, from tools to sacred objects. It has been deemed as useful as obsidian and as sacred as lapis lazuli.

So if you're looking for something like moldavite but isn't as expensive or as likely to be a fake like moldavite (there are still black markets for fakes, but less of an issue than moldavite), consider Libyan Desert Glass or almost any impact tektite.

Tomorrow is Ostara (spring equinox) The Sun also transitions to Aries. This is a time to sew the seeds to reap at the harvest, both literally, metaphorically, and magically! This is a great time to do prosperity workings (it's not a coincidence that we are getting stimmys and taxes around this time either) The cosmos is deff in our favor here. So here are a couple prosperity spells you can do to maximize on this energy. I will add these all to our guides section as well because the truth is you can do a prosperity ritual/spell at any time.

Enchanted Money

- A dollar bill or a dollar coin

- A green or white candle

- Your focus

Place the coin or dollar bill close to the candle just not close enough to catch fire, light the candle and say out loud what you would like to enchant this money with, something like “let cash flow freely to me, may my needs always be met and may I have extra to save.” Keep it simple but descriptive. Repeat as many times as you need. Once the candle has burned out place the money in a secure location in your wallet and do not spend it. You may enchant it further by sprinkling with herbs, writing sigils on it, or anointing it with an oil blend for prosperity. Recharge it with a candle and your affirmations when you feel the need.

Personal Gain Spell

- Almond or Olive oil

- Plain cashews or almonds

- Cinnamon (ground or sticks does not matter)

- Allspice (ground or whole berries)

- Patchouli essential oil

- Green taper candle

- 3 copper coins (if you do not have these use whatever you have)

- Jar or satchel for ingredients

- Piece of paper

Mix up your prosperity oil, take you carrier oil (olive or almond) add a few drops of patchouli essential oil swirl clockwise gently into the carrier oil to mix. **if you don’t have patchouli EO you can use cinnamon or mint, you can also replace the essential oil for chopped dried patchouli, or use just the base carrier oil if you have none of these items.** Add your coins to the oil, stir clockwise again. Place your candle on a fire safe dish and sprinkle the nuts, cinnamon, and allspice in a circle around the candle going clockwise. Make sure to leave some space so they are not touching the candle. Write your name and birthday on one side of the paper and anoint with oil. On the reverse side write your affirmations for how you want to receive blessing of prosperity. Be as specific as you need to. Anoint this side of the paper as well. You can use the oil to draw sigils for money/prosperity. Or draw runes on them whatever you feel called to do, even a $ works! Fold the paper towards yourself and place in the jar or satchel. Add some cinnamon, allspice, and nuts to your container. Place a few drops of your oil inside and close it up. Light your candle and focus on your affirmations. Once your candle has burned down, throw the nuts and spices outside and give words of thanks. Keep your jar or satchel stashed away in a safe place in your home out of sight. Recharge as needed. It is ideal to keep it wherever you stash any checks or cash in your home.

When doing these types of workings it is important to follow your magical pursuits with mundane actions. Like look for a better job, go to those classes you want to further your career, listen to podcasts/audiobooks about money management, invest in something etc. If you have a lot of baggage or personal issues related to money, it is important to do real healing work around that otherwise your magical workings will not produce much or their results will not last.
