Death Mountain Tektite
The Death Mountain Tektite is a fairly large armored predator found within the foothills and carved paths of Death Mountain and the larger Eldin region in general. Their bright red carapace acting as a tell tale warning to travelers to stay away from them, not for any venom, but for aggressive behavior.
Like all Tektites, these creatures move in a hopping motion, jumping after their prey to eventually pounce and start eating the prey alive. They are surprisingly heavy thanks to ingesting a variety of heavy minerals to essentially increase the effectiveness of their hopping attacks.
They usually feed on anything from small lizards, insects, birds, mammals and, in one case, a small child that ventured too far from the safety of the villages.

Annoying but tasty, crack them open with a hammer and savor the tasty meat inside. The flesh of these is surprisingly sweet. The shells make good cucco feed.

Nasty bugs that think they can take out our brothers. Well, jokes on them! We Goron know how to handle any pest that stands in our way!
