On Sunday life showered me with pleasures. An afternoon spent with friends and not one but two products of Dominio de Pingus, the Flor de Pingus 2011 and the Psi 2015, both magnificent examples of top Spanish winemaking (yes I know Peter is Danish), but these wines are ridiculously good. Both offering incredible fruit intensity and a masterclass in balance. Dave Fletcher - Rockstar! If you work in wine or love wine then you need to discover Fletcher Wines. Dave is the rockstar winemaker at Cerreto (you might have heard of them...small producer in Barolo), and his wines are just phenomenal. I just had “The Minion” Nebbiolo 2017 (Vic) and it blew me away - apparently I’m not the first person today either. The nose is perfumed delicate red fruit & flowers, more roses than tar & roses. The palate is just oh wow, fine boned delicate tannins providing rich supple textures then driven by bucket loads of rich primary fruit - soft red currants and raspberries. Acids are fleeting. To Dave I say thank you Maestro! To everyone else I say find his wines, whatever it takes and enjoy them. Why? Had a rather intelligent wine tasting this afternoon @longrainrestaurant for #winewonderers with @le_blanc_13 and @jpaulwilkinson with some amazing wines on show. @bornraisedwines had an amazing Nebbiolo and a Super Tuscan Blend. Is anyone not a fan of @aroddawines Beechworth Chardonnay? A huge delight was the offering from @captainsoftrade, the AR Lenoble Brut Nature Dosage Zero was amazing. They balance fruit sweetness in the vineyard - therefore no need for dosage! And I have to say the @fromsundaywine ‘carbonic’ and ‘bambino’ Nebbiolo’s were beyond impressive - super rich fruit no tannins (yes it’s Nebbiolo)! But I have to be super impressed by the @anthony.thevenet Beaujolais from Morgon normally I’m not a fan of gamay but these wines could convert me!
