Send βFearmongerβ for a drabble about one of my museβs worst fears.
Β Β Β Among some of Kiraβs worst fears are widely ranged, but if there were to be a specific one that she has a great fear of is darkness.
Β Β Β Among demons and creatures of the night, Kira was no stranger to darkness. As a child, she often cried herself to sleep because of how afraid she was of these monsters she would see in the night. It often took forms of various arms or claws stretching to greet her with a toothy smile. As an adult, however... it grew worse.
Β Β Β One night, shortly after escaping to the U.S for a better life from Russia, she was forced to endure multiple nightmares throughout her nights. Mostly consisting of her neglectful husband and lost children, along with lost friends, but the rest were of her worst fears. Darkness being the most prominent.Β
Β Β Β She awoke in a cold sweat, unable to move in her bed and felt paralyzed. Breathing was... hard. Her chest felt heavy... hard and cold. The air was sharp and chilling, why couldnβt she move?
Β Β Β It hit her. The darkness surrounding Kira within her bedroom began to grow, bright eyes peeling open from within the darkness. Every angle she looked, there were eyes watching. Every blink, their form changed. Arms wrapped around her legs and arms, keeping her still even further. Was she dying? Had Death finally come for her? It was too early, she didnβt want to die.
Β Β Β Her heart was racing, her anxiety was forcing it to go faster. She panicked, unable to move. Every attempt to cry was painful and weak, feeling her chest hardening and unable to breathe. She choked on the cold air, numbing from the neck down. Her vision was fading and darkening further and further.Β βHELP!β She cried.Β βSOMEONE!β
Β Β Β Awaking, tears were flowing down her cheeks. She felt her chest tighten so much, she had trouble breathing, but she could move. Daylight was peeking from the window of her small room, but she was so scared to move. Succumbing to her covers, she sobbed within her blankets. She wished her children her here, her husband... if he ever cared.
Β Β Β She wanted to go home.
