disclaimer, this is not a book review, more just an entry about how i felt while reading

i followed the writing of this book closely, excitedly awaiting every update lancali posted to their social media. it was released shortly after i got my first job and with my first paycheck i bought it.

this was a time in my life where i was making changes to my life faster than i ever thought i could, and i was maturing each day — when the book had arrived, i made the decision to read it aloud to my partner every day after my tiredsome work days. this greatly engaged the two of us in the love portrayed in this book, romantically and platonically as we related to the characters, connected our beloved friends to them, and our own lives and struggles.

i felt i could connect to characters like neo & hikari the most, as someone who struggles with similar things to them, as well as when reading, my physical body was failing to function and my mental health wasn't doing me any favors.

this book hit home with a lot of things, and i came out of it taking a lot of good lessons and reminders; my partner shared that same sentiment.

i enjoyed the prose lancali writes with, and with this book as her official debut, i think it's a strong showcase of her passion. by the end of the book we were cheering for the main cast, hoping things would turn out against the odds, and i felt myself scanning over the book many times after completion, staring at the words that resonated with me.
