finally posting part 1 of the bunch of funnybunny sketches I've been practicing with.. they are so important to me... my vile little guys...

on march 3, 1969 the united states navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men and women who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. they succeeded. today, the navy calls it fighter weapons school. the flyers call it: TOP GUN

STEVE HARRINGTON. CALLSIGN: WONDER BOY

✩ after the final battle in hawkins, steve wanted to keep saving lives, searching for a sense of purpose that could dull the ache in his chest that had built over the years from coming home to his parents’ empty house every night.

✩ with some heavy convincing, they agreed to help fund his college education, and steve became a pilot through indiana state university's ROTC program.

✩ he met his RIO, charlie 'river' rush, in one of his classes, and they quickly became close friends.

✩ charlie would follow steve into any dogfight no matter the risk, which is why they went to flight school together post-graduation.

✩ the instructors called steve “wonder boy” behind his back, shocked that a kid from hawkins, indiana would rise to become one of the best pilots in the navy.

✩ one of them noticed how steve was keen to look for danger from all angles, never brought his ego into his flying, studied the manuals like the back of his hand, and always volunteered if someone fell behind, claiming “we’re all on the same team here.”

✩ that instructor called him and charlie into his office, promising that after they finished deployment, they would both be sent to Top Gun.

✩ one night at the local dive bar, charlie spotted a pretty blonde who was shamelessly brushing her manicured fingers all over steve's arm, obviously intent on going home with the man in a white shiny uniform.

✩ charlie was a few drinks in, so when he heard a stevie wonder song start to play on the jukebox nearby, he got a brilliant idea.

✩ stumbling over to steve, charlie pulled him aside towards the back of the bar. when the rest of their friends nudged steve to dance with this girl to this particular song, he didn't think anything of it. too loose and warm from chugging three beers to consider the repercussions, so he agreed.

✩ unfortunately for him, some of the instructors that had a special nickname for steve were there that night. when he lead the girl to the dance floor, the cheers steve heard solidified how much he had fucked up.

“go on, wonder boy! dance with her!” “yeah go on, stevie wonder!”

✩ ever since that night, charlie and the rest of the guys called him "stevie" every chance they got.

✩ a few days into their courses at naval air station miramar in san diego, california, the inside jokes and embarrassing pats on the back led to steve’s official callsign, WONDER BOY.

✩ steve is humble about his flying expertise, but he's also aware that he’s one of the best. he worked hard to become a lieutenant, especially after defeating vecna nearly killed him.

✩ he's known for his incredible precision with firing guns and missiles while being able to stay focused on tricks in the sky. dustin claims he's responsible for his talents after forcing him to play duck hunt at the arcade a few summers ago.

✩ steve doesn’t fly for the adrenaline, but he can’t deny how much he loves the feeling of reaching mach two in an F-14 with gravity pushing the air out of his lungs.

✩ he’s the one that everyone feels safe with.

✩ he never. ever. leaves his wingman. no matter what.

✩ the other pilots know not to speak to him during preflight setup. if they try, steve politely stays quiet and continues programming his systems and checking the landing gear.

✩ if anyone dies from negligence on his part, he’ll never fly again. steve could spend hours checking and re-checking his plane before trainings, but he trusts his routine.

✩ since moving to california, steve has not only gotten tanner, but he has a certain glow to him. his shoulders are broader, his arms are stronger, and he’s toned enough to be called a roman statue by dustin when he comes to visit.

✩ robin calls him every three days to hear how his classes are going and to make sure he’s doing okay, knowing that the shift from hawkins to san diego couldn’t have been easy. he's never missed answering the phone.

✩ he insists on waking up an hour earlier to style his hair every morning with the same farrah fawcett spray from high school, even though his helmet always messes up the work.

✩ the other pilots become his found family. yes it’s a room of insane levels of testosterone, but they all genuinely respect one another and have each other’s backs.

✩ if any of them have children, steve is the designated babysitter. never hesitating to offer his services, saying they can call for anything. 

✩ their wives are always trying to set him up with their friends, but nothing ever stuck... until you.
