“E.J.?” Was all I could say in disbelief. Last I heard of him, E.J. was being sentenced to death. Now he is standing right across from me in his usual boots-jeans-tank-top getup, holding against the wall an enormous red-orange lynx with his Bo staff across the beast’s neck avoiding being mauled off by it. “A hand, please?” His eyes went from bright-white to brown to bright-white like stars again, followed by a bright-white smile contrasting his skin complexion, darker than Marcus, lighter than Kent. His whole skin turned into wood as he now focused his attention back to the lynx, avoiding its gnarly, wild, big pointy teeth. Without any hesitation, I knew exactly what to do: I let out a high-pitch sonic screech, breaking all the windows around us, leaving everyone powerless and unconscious on the floor with the power of my voice except for him. E.J. was vibrating like bamboo in a windstorm for a few seconds before returning himself to his natural skin color, woodless. I walked past everyone completely knocked out on the floor to greet him. I could see the lynx that was trying to bite him off was the short red hair lady who received me here with Mr. Hugh Wolf when I was brought in by Andrea Catena: Ms. Alicia Knox, Porter of the Lynx Constellation. “Hi, Willie.” He looked at me with a big smile on his face, completely unaffected by my powers. “I knew you’d know what to do. Great timing, always.” He gave me a big hug. A hug of a loved one who I thought was dead, gone, someone, I never thought I would see again.” When I first wrote this scene, the first thing I imagine is William meeting Elijah’s brown eyes through the mayhem that’s happening around him and feeling a sense of relief to meet again his once boyfriend.
