Sometimes you're stuck in a cursed town, where people get hurt by machinery a bit too often, where the two richest families in town also are the most tragic, where kids get bitten and murdered and disappear. You're stuck there, and all you can do is make the best of it.
And the best sometimes is work at a pizzeria built upon the ghosts of three children, and sometimes family is your coworkers. Sometimes family is your neighbor who has a cute little dog and has a friend who's so hyperactive it puts the dog to shame.
And Jeremy has been beaten and abandoned and lied to over and over, and somehow living in this cursed town is what was needed to give him such stubbornness that he won't let it take himself or his sister as well. And Cassidy is shut off and scared of being hurt again and mean sometimes, and somehow Susie has looked at her as if she's good and nice, Fritz calls her his best friend.
And, of course, there's the bastard. The fallen-from-grace Hurricane star. Michael Afton waltzes in and lies that he's Fritz Smith and Jeremy makes sure he regrets the decision of ever lying to Jeremy's face at all. Because it makes Jeremy's blood roar, and his fingertips tingle, and he knows no better way to flirt than to annoy the shit out of him
