this thing. oh this thing. it's over two months old by now i think but i finally got it done. thank god. of course now i gotta explain all the things on it. ::v they're related to these two things.. normally i'd make a big paragraph with all the things but this time i'll do it differently since a few of these have some "lore" behind them or what have you. so i'll be giving them each their own space. first helmets, the shields, then weapons, then the face-shields. (also almost forgot to mention the two random names of Arnate of green and Dost of Ellenthrou.)
Tuncher's cap: Eponymous cap of the Tunchers, a group created by Elliot Tuncher, dedicated to the study and retrieval of any and all color artifacts. Current notable member would be Arnate of green who has dedicated her life to green.
Bestoll: Primarily used by knights of Spracht and Orlun this helmet has been used for centuries with little change to its form. The plume can be removed or replaced if necessary.
Au'geer and "classical" Au'geer: Contrary to what many may think the "classical" Au'geer never actually was a proper shield in and of itself. Extensive research have proven that it was a helmet worn only during certain ceremonies or by raiding captains.
Leffe'teir: One of the rarest and most prized helmets in all of the Lands, there are said to only be 500 in existence though the location of only 20 are known of. The rest are said to have been lost during the Days of Eclipsed Eye, a week long battle against the four Primorda.
Berku: Helmet commonly found in Gwehd and other northern, mountainous regions. Not much is known about the helmet's history but it does have some presence as a helmet for nobles and their kind.
Kolromi and ridged Kolromi: While the ridged variant of the Kolromi is more well known than its less pointed sister the ridged Kolromi is only given to important generals or nobility of the areas around Rimar.
Lewt and Phantare Lewt: A helmet originating from Ooyedoci it is commonly used by people who wish to move about easier with armor, the helmet itself not weighing much. The Phantare variant is given to captains or generals and bears their clan insignia on the upper part of the eye guard.
Xipal: Very rarely called a Corner Shield, the Xipal was designed to protect from attacks from the side as well as the front. There is an indent in the front to place a relief also which at the time was revolutionary and lead to most modern shields having a space for a relief.
Ratoma: A simple spiral shield with a ridge lining its edge before coiling up above the handle.
Progneast/Progneest: Occasionally nicknamed a Goose Shield from its vaguely avian shape this is a shield that was designed for both protection and combat. The edges nearest to its dagger are bladed and it could be used to both stab and cut. Due to improper translation methods and no records being kept there is still a debate over the spelling of this shield.
Aunxil: Commonly used by the Moongrass Clan as shown in the illustration, their isignia providing the relief for the shield. It could be used as a sort of mobile cover, one able to plant it into the dirt and angle a spear or crossbow around one of its corners.
Werf Bauer: Literally meaning "mining hammer" in Vredden the Werf Bauer, and its pickless cousin, the Bauer, do not see much use in modern times. This is mostly due to the intricate metal working used on the head, middle guard, and back guard.
Foelyx: The Foelyx is primarily a weapon for appearances rather than for actual combat, the spirals adorning the spear tip much to blunt and fragile to be thrust into a body. Some scholars claim, through evidence of broken Foelyx on ancient battlefields, that the intent was the shatter the spirals, hopefully thrusting the metal shards into an enemies body along with the blade.
Rilvark: A common glaive like weapon that has survived the ages due to its ease of use and simple smithing procedures.
Grathun: Face-Shield based off of the One-horned demon Grathun, one of the four legendary Primorda from age old tales. She is said to have the ability to wither anything she touches, a toxic breath that is said to have caused the Ganustun Plague, and has maggots and flies deep within her skin. Her Face-Shield is worn during health or life based festivals, her visage said to ward off illnesses and disease.
Krazdom: Face-Shield based off of the Two-horned demon Krazdom, one of the four legendary Primorda from age old tales. He is said to have skin stronger than iron, the ability to corrode any kind of metal, and can summon massive metallic spires from the very ground. His face-shield is worn during wealth or smithing based festivals, his visage said to absorb any corrosion that is not his own.
Menoya: Face-Shield based off of the Three-horned demon Menoya, one of the four legendary Primorda from age old tales. She is said to have the ability to call down bolts of lightning, summon extreme gusts of wind, and be able to turn intangible and invisible. Her face-shield is worn during weather or ocean based festivals, her visage said to calm waters and winds for her to rile up later.
Banothos: Face-Shield based off of the Four-horned demon Banothos, one of the four legendary Primorda from age old tales. He is said to have the ability to bend bones and flesh to his will, multicolored eyes that put people in a trance, and can implant false dreams or memories. His face-shield is worn during marriage or bonding festivals, his visage said to banish negative and unruly thoughts.
