alright life is settling down a bit and I'm revving myself back up for art fight!

(tho realistically I might drop out if I don't get my card and updated refs finished before the end of the month)

I've been fiddling around with adjusting Zenny's design to finally have wings.

The initial designs were more so mean to be cloaks that resemble owl wings but that's just a shortcut I took and people still sometimes mistook her for a turkey. So she has wings now and it works I tandem with the now cropped cloak.

I'm also finally logicking out how her hair prongs work, tho the sketch pile didn't really explain it that well.

Shorthand is that it's just a messy bit of hair that pokes out from the side like that with the light blow glow undertone her hair has now. And it's more or less like a curved flat plane. Making it also close to an owl as possible.

I did change her bangs here but I think I'll have to experiment with it a bit more.

these sketches are old ones seeing how i made these during and before my previous laptop went kaput due to a specific windows 11 update that bricked a buch of ssd drives, before i dive into a bit of a tech rant. artfight is coming up soon and i wanna spruce up all 6 of my ocs for it, and zenny's been on my mind to give her a redesign again again and these sketches explore story plotpoints i got for IdLS along with some potential haircut change for Zenny.

i wish i went thru with saving my art files but my dad's external hardrive barely had enough space for both my photos and music.

and seeing how i was in a bit of a manic state of losing a laptop my parents gifted me for my college work that was leagues better than my old laptop. after taking it to the local microcenter, they found out it was just a complete motherboard failure. so no real hope of saving it.

thankfully i worked out a different means of getting another laptop with friends, its about as powerful as the previous one but seeing how im adverse to playing most triple A games i should be fine now.

it did mean i lost a lot of artwork tho, some that i havent posted too. at least the important ones got uploaded to csp's cloud drive, so these are what you get to see today.

these sketches here is for a dream game i wanna make in the future thats a social sim inspired by persona but more woke than persona (jk).

i want it to center around Luna seeing how shes the link between both Zenny and Emi's story, along with Pumpkin and Rosa's story. and if i can work it out later, robo Luna could be the one keeping track and being friends with Zenny before Luna finds out that she's still alive after the incident.

either way i want it to be like a more fleshed out version of persona 3 portable game feel wise, where instead of a cursor you have a character physically there interacting with the world similar to any other top down games but more paper mario 2.5D adjacent or i guess more like pokemon rangers on the ds. or i guess its closer to stuff like final fantasy 7 or undertale seeing how i want it to be done in game maker.

i dont got much plans on developing it more rn but its something i wanna work on in the future as a passion project after i got enough experiencing making more games

of which leads into my college capstone class project, i got to make a game with a team!

it was rather messy seeing how me being an entirely online student caused the team a lot of desync on ideas and a lot of it was just me not being good at directing and coordinating the team. but the final product aint too shabby for my first game!

i got to make the player character which is an alternate take on what project life light's Amiee but now more fitted for this game's context, and animated the enemies for the game along with other art assets.

i wont really go too much further into the process since it was effectively making a game in 3 months with a team that weren't really that insync with each other, im really greatful that i manage to make a game with those wonderful folks tho.

just next time i'll want fuller transparancy and team members that are willing to poke into my ideas to be on the same wavelength as me. the initial idea of the project got watered down by a lot to make due with the time and team we got.

its a bit weird of me but i do wanna keep the game a little bit hidden so i'll be making it a wound about way of getting to the download page of the game thru an unlisted youtube video of an old playtest video.

and lastly, something completely out of context.

I really liked the characters I made for my college class so I decided to just make them their own thing and expand on it for a different class.

The project is called Life Light, and it's a fantasy world that technically takes place within IdLS but not really. Think of it like an AU that holds the same rules as IdLS when it comes to its magic system.

I'll post more of them when I get around to it but each character has a name now, plus two more new characters.

Alfur (Rouge), Amiee (Wizard), North (Knight), Elmer (Jester), Shae (Archer), Hana (Spirit Medium)

Here I doodles Amiee and North, and I conceptualized a bit of Shae but I forgot that he's supposed to be a hyper feminine guy elf. Like a really pretty elf.

Also drew Rosa and a bit of Emi before I gave up on drawing Emi. I experimented a bit with Rosa's eyelashes and made hers more curly and bushy. It's basically an extrapolation of how guilty gear strive does eye lashes.

Then there's Terra Star, I wanted to do a soft colored in warm up since I really liked what I did with her outfit in game.

Got a new drawing tablet so now I'm seeing how it feels drawing on it, so far I'm liking, it's just the wire placement is a bit weird cuz it's in the middle to the side.

And I usually don't have the tablet on a table but more so on my lap and I hold it on the left where the buttons are. Either way I got no cash to really buy another one so I'm sticking with this one. Oh and it's an xp pen tablet, I think it's a deco v3? Idk lol not gonna get up to check the box again.

This is the first ever sketch of Luna in her human form at the time.

Luna was initially a robot made by a girl named Tsuki, Tsuki herself was rather made up for my miitopia playthru as Luna's original creator.

Luna's old lore was that she's a wandering robot abandoned after her original creator passed away, now with no purpose she wanders around trying to find said purpose.

Nowadays Robo Luna and Luna herself are separate characters. And robo Luna had more of an emotional tie with Luna and Zenny, seeing how they both worked on her together.

The when and where isn't set in stone yet cuz I'm still bouncing around it being a childhood past time that they both work on fictional robots they wanna build later on in life, or it was a new project they worked on after they met again after not seeing each other for all of middle school.

Luna herself is in a bit of a lore limbo if anything, I don't remember if I've talked about it before here but she and Zenny are basically the oldest ocs that I have that stuck around for a really long time now.

Now that I wanna incorporate her into IdLS's world and being heavily tied in with Zenny's life and maybe even a love interest. I've been trying to figure out her personality from the ground up. Not to mention robo Luna, especially with how I still wanna keep around the "self developed Ai" plot beat where the robot gained a conscious from trying to execute her "Find Zenny" order only to bump into post light element incident and not recognize her but still wanting to get to know her out of her own curiosity.

The rational here is figuring out how advance the technology this world is before I really do this since it's a magic based world that lost its touch of magic over technological advancement.

I don't think I've ever posted my personal sona on here? I never really bothered giving my personal sona an update because Zenny kind of acted as one for me for a long time until I started giving her a life of her own. It was until I started dating again that sparked my interest again cuz I wanted to draw us doing cute things.

In the 4th/5th image is a doodle of what I wore out to a museum trip with my college friends, it was my second time dressing out like that and I was really nervous having the public eye on me like that. I wanna dress out more but definitely after I try nair and learn how to do make up.

Alright looping back to Zenny tho, in the first doodle is a concept doodle of Zenny struggle with her growing body before the light elemental incident. And it harkens back to how I feel about my own growing body. I don't know how I'll be able to fit Zenny's past into IdLS's story, seeing how most of the development is half and half. The main stick in the mud is how someone with gender and body dysphoria react to a new body that more closely aligns with what they want, it's a dream for a lot of people out there and I want to portray it in a way where it's not too out there. The few stories that I have seen doing this same trope never really expanded more on it or did it in this type of flavor with a trans character.
