It has been quite a while since I read Dune in full (and I honestly still haven't seen Part 2, just Part 1, but I have seen some clips and while I still really dislike the idea behind Villeneuve's Cleopatra movie, if Timmy Chalamet brings some of that Part 2 energy to Octavian I might possibly hate it slightly less) so I don't honestly have a whole lot of takes about it. I found it an enjoyable read, the prose is very engaging and the way Herbert writes has this way of captivating me as a reader from the getgo. I don't have a big enough emotional attachment to any of the characters to have strong opinions about them except that I don't much care about Jessica, but I like Rebecca Ferguson as an actress so shrug dot emoji.
I am into what Villeneuve is setting up for Dune: Messiah based on the divergences he's done, I like Chani as someone not into Paul while he's being Space Hitler and what that means for her and how she interacts with Paul as an Emperor of a colonialist empire she does not like (and also what it means for Paul and Irulan as a marriage because Pugh and Chalamet have really good chemistry, 2019's Little Women is the first time I've ever bought into Amy and Laurie as a couple and that's entirely because of them).
