[ID: screenshot of a tweet; the @-handel of the user has been blackened out. Tweet reads: The recent uprise of awareness for aplatonic people made me wonder⦠I know I experience queerplatonic attraction, Iām definitely not aplatonic. But I was wondering whether idemalterous could be a label I want. AFAIK it doesnāt really exist? Most stuff is idem-ro/se and Iām aroace. End of ID]
Iām a bit clueless who to chat up about this but figured your blog is a good starting place. So usually itās idemromantic, meaning a person who is quoiromantic (canāt distinguish romantic from e.g. platonic attraction) but the person chooses to call what the feel romantic. Hence idemromantic.
I have been looking and sitting on this for months now but I feel like an island with my want for idemalterous or maybe idemqueerplatonic to be a label.
Letās spread the word? Maybe some other (oriented) aroaces feel like I do?
Hi there, im happy to help spread the word :) i dont personally relate but im certain there are people out here who do! Personally i have not seen the idea of idemalterous or idemqueerplatonic discussed anywhere else but it makes perfect sense to me. Thank u for sharing and coming to my blog to talk about it, this is a great term!
I'll tag with whatever i can think of that is relevant to help it get seen. If anyone else relates feel free to respond in replies or reblogs, maybe likeminded ppl can find each other! Im sorry that this has so far been an isolating experience, i know that feeling and hope you know that even if your experience isn't common, that doesnt mean it isnt important or real.
Hope this helps in any way @artifactseeker-myr99 !
Idem-
Idem- (This definition is for Idemromantic, but can be used with alterous, sensual, queerplatonic, and sexual (i think)). A subset of gray romanticism (ābetween aromantic and alloromanticā).
TL;DR: Internally experiences romantic and platonic attraction similarly; categorizes relationships and feelings as romantic or platonic based on factors other than presence or lack of romantic attraction
Definition: Categorizes relationships and feelings as platonic or romantic but experiences no notable internal differences. They may categorize certain relationships as romantic instead of platonic based on age, personality compatibility, emotional closeness, ease of living together, presence of sexual attraction, or other factors. But their feelings toward their romantic interests would not be particularly distinguishable from platonic feelings and may be similar to how they feel for a best friend or beloved family member. They may pursue platonic, quasiplatonic, romantic, or no relationships.
Idem can be a modifier (āIām idem-homoromanticā) or its own thing (āIām idemromanticā). āIdemroā is the shortened version (as well as āgrayroā). āIdemā means āthe sameā in Latin. āIdemroā is the shortened version. Idemros may also consider themselves aro, grayro, quoiro, cupioro, alloro, etc. Idemros may pursue platonic, quasiplatonic, romantic, or no relationships."
