One day Hal drunkenly asks Bruce what if Bruce dies and they cannot be together anymore
Instead of acting sad or sensible, Bruce (not drunk) says he already built a machine that would function as his body as long as the Bat’s brain still useable. But if it’s not then Hal would have to settle for a USB stick that has an old version of Bruce’s complete consciousness that only gets updated once every 3 years to plug into the homunculus to form something that is only 67% human (haha). That is not advisable so Bruce tells Hal if that ever happens, be sure to use the Ring to reconstruct his brain from the atoms up no matter what.
Hal marries Bruce again the next day inside a courthouse.
