An anon made this side-by-side comparison between Kazuki!Sara and the actual Sara. I love how every detail in Kazuki’s outfit is incorrect compared to the real Sara’s outfit. It really shows how much Ikuhara and the animation studio love and care about this anime.

I think the theory has a good amount of evidence going on for it. During the scene where Kazuki’s family was eating breakfast, the chair Haruka was sitting on looks different from the rest of the chairs. Also when haruka told Kazuki he wanted to go with him to see Nyantaro, their dad also got up, presumably to help Haruka to get around. You can see their dad in the foreground when Haruka tells Kazuki he’s friends with Sara.

You’re right! I didn’t notice the chair and now I feel blind. Well it’s not uncommon for kids to have their own chairs, but in this context it's most likely for his condition.

Whoever spotted the dad here had some sharp eyes.

Nah, it’s an affectionate nickname and it’s totally normal for Haruka to use it to address Kazuki instead of some variation of “big brother”. It’s childish and cute, it fits him.
