My hair and eyebrow makeover Update
So it’s almost three weeks (19 days to be exact) since I had my eyebrows done and also had some special hair treatments. It’s update time. As you can see mostly all the original top layers of dead skin has peeled off after the first week and slowly you see very light color under the eyebrow hair. Not super dramatic yet looks okay. But during my three week follow-up free retouch session I will have Lee Lee (owner and beauty clinician) color in darker and longer. I will request for the 10year color and I want the results to be darker than it is here but final product lighter than previous initial eyebrow coloring. Looking forward to the follow up appt tomorrow.
My hair and eyebrow makeover Update
So it's almost a week (5 days to be exact) since I had my eyebrows done and also had some special hair treatments. It's update time. I was told that my eyebrow treatment was called permanent color and not permanent tattoo eyebrows as the clinician used a electric color pen to color in my eyebrows. The treatment causes coloring of the skin I presume. Anyways as was told to me, the color will slowly fade as skin starts to shed. That's exactly what happened. The skin under my eyebrows started to be dry and started shedding off and with it a majority of the initial color. Right now eyebrows still have some color but it is light. I was told it would be light since she wanted me to feel comfortable with the color before I go darker. The free three week touch-up session I might request to do the 10 yr color and have it darker but not as dark as the initial but between that and slightly lighter in the future results after the skin sheds. Lets see how the progress is in three weeks before my touch-up consultation.
Next the hair treatments I had were oil treatment to combat dandruff. So far I noticed less dandruff, but it could also be a combination of using the Sunrider shampoo and conditioner. Next the body wave oil treatment, I must say the body wave treatment does stand up to the test of time. Clinician say it will last for 4 months. I do feel my hair is more full even after I washed and dried my hair without much effort. So I am happy with the body wave treatment. But does the hair puff up? Not really. I would probably had liked it more full and puff. But currently it looks and feel nature so I am happy with it too. All in all, was it work the price tag? I don't know yet. Let's see in three weeks.
My hair and eyebrow makeover
This morning I was on my way to take a shower and wash my hair, when I saw dirty brown water coming out of my faucet and toilet. I was like, what the hell. Then I learn the government was working on some pipes across the street from my house. Even the water out of the fire hydrant was dirty brown. I think at times we take clean water for granted. In any case, you can guess, I pushed the idea of showering and washing my hair into thin air and just went to work as is. After my Pulmonologist appt, my hair just made me feel oily and dirty; since I have a dandruff problem. So as a result I decided to go try a new salon. I was looking for a no frills, no thrills place that would offer a reasonable price for a shampoo/blow/haircut. As I looked around, I saw most places quoted at $28. So when I saw a salon (Lee Lee Salon) on the same block that quoted $20. I was like, okay let me try this place. What I thought would cost me a $25-30 shampoo/blow/layer cut, ended up costing me $529. Way more then I was bargaining for. So what happened? LOL … I got swindled into all their other services. Oh boy! So as the shampoo washer lady was washing my hair she points out that I have a lot of danfruff and that I should have an hot oil treatment to combat that problem. Not the first time I heard this recommendation from a stylist, so I decided what the heck, why not try it once since I never tried it before. So I ended up getting one ($30) plus apparently my would be haircut was $25 (by the way, it was not cut to what I requested, but the haircutting stylist (Nikki), a different lady, said what was more suited for me is a body wave oil treatment since I had thinning flat hair with lots of oil weighing my hair down and making my face more round and looking fatter than it really is. I thought about it but turned it down, saying maybe next time. But as she was cutting my layers in the back and some on the side, she insisted I try it at least once to see if I like it as it's an option for people with thin flat hair to have natural body and volume without styling. An option I actually never heard of nor was ever introduced to. Nikki said it last for 4 months. After some consideration and asking if it would affect my hair and if it would interfere with my prior oil treatment, Nikki replied no. So I thought to myself, since I would only try it once, I said what the heck, why not. Then she told me it would be an additional $55 for the body wave hair treatment. Next Nikki looks at my eyebrows and points out the obvious. Saying your brows are so light, it fades with your skin complexion. You should try out eyebrow treatments and color them in like mine. You will be surprised by the results and it would make you look better. I always knew my brows were light and needed color. Then Nikki said, I can shape them for you and you can see for yourself how it would be like. It won't take any extra time, I can do it at the same time as your body wave oil treatment. I was like what the heck, doesn't hurt to see how it would look like when she sample shape/color it. I would see if I like it and if I wanna make it permanent. Well, she had her boss (Lee Lee) come into the room to sample color and shape one side of my eyebrow. I didn't like it much but I didn't hate it either. It did make my brows more define. Then they started to show me other people's before and after samples and quoted the price at $390. In my head I was like $390, what the hell, no. As I look on in the mirror deciding if I wanted to waste more money, the boss/owner of the salon (Lee Lee) already started to cut shape my brow and as they continue to talk and convince me, I was suckered into getting it done since the boss already started. I asked lots of questions, was told there were 2 yr, 5yr and 10 yr permanent eyebrow colorings. She didn't tell me which was mine but did tell me she would do it light and then I can decide if I want it darker later during my 3-week free touch up. I was like, oh boy! So it started and as she used the electric color pen, it felt like needles poking into my skin. It did hurt and as she did each side to side then wipe and side to side. I was told it's not a permanent tattoo but rather called permanent color. So as it goes, I had it done and didn't have a choice of the design. Boss lady said don't worry I know what to do, I will take care of the design. Just relax. So after the treatment she gave me a receipt and charged me $410 ($390 for treatment and $20 tips). She told me to keep the receipt if I want to come back for my 3-week follow-up touch up. I don't know how I felt about this. But since I had it done, I can’t turn back. When it was time to pay I only had $265 in cash and she only accepted cash so I told her I need to go to the bank later to get more money. So after my eyebrows were done, the shampoo lady came back to put me in the hair steamer to steam my body wave treatment and then after 5 mins washed out the oils. Next the haircutting lady along with the boss blow dryed and styled my hair. As she was styling I told her I wanted more front layers, but she told me with the body wave more layers would not look nice, so as a result they curled the bottom of my hair like the Japanese Perm instead. After all was done, the haircutting lady was asked by the boss to follow me to the bank to get the rest of the money. I gave the hair washer lady $4 tips and the haircutting lady $5 tips. So all in all $529. Was it worth it? I DON'T KNOW. My male bestie thinks it's worth it. What do you guys think?
