Jason had not moved out yet when they met. Lauren was staying in his town for a while and Jason was outside near this woods area of his house, they talked for a bit, Lauren left, Lauren came back later with an ungodly creature casing her, luckily Jason read about it in some book and helps Lauren get it away, and after they’re just like “Damn, we need to chill after that.” And hang out in Jason’s room for a bit and Lauren just kinda kept comeing back after that.

Though she doesn’t always stay long, she gets worried, worried thwt if she gets too close to people things will go wrong (like they did back home, with her family), she can’t bear the thought of losing people, so she leaves herself before they get the chance
But some stick around, some give her a call if she doesn’t visit for a few months, some don’t see her constant travelling as a ransom to let their friendship die, some people don’t give up on her.
