After teaching Ian a "Breathe Underwater" spell, Barley asks Ian incessantly to cast it on him. Ian asks why but Barley remains secretive.

Day after day, sometimes twice or three times a day, Barley will come to him to ask him to cast it again, ignoring him more and more. Ian resigns himself to the fact that Barley most likely has a mermaid girlfriend he doesn't want Ian to find out about and it hurts.

Ian surprises Barley with a tattoo meant to be dedicated to him in Old Elvish.

Ian: Barley?

Barley: What? 

Ian: Where's the door hole?

Barley: Goes right there. See, I drew it with a 'magic' marker.

Ian: You were supposed to cut it out with the power saw. 

Barley: Dude, I'm gonna! 

Ian: Oh really? 

Barley: Yes! 

Ian: So go get the power saw! 

Barley: Okay, I will!

Barley: *bumps into door*

Barley: *rattles the wall*

Barley: *paws the door*

Barley: ...I see the problem. 

Ian has an overly sensitive scalp and refuses to let ANYONE touch his head/hair.

Barley makes it his life's mission to be the ONLY ONE to touch Ian's head/hair.

Wilden had psychic powers but no one knew about this. His powers are handed down to Ian, whose powers starts manifesting after he turns 16. Ian has telepathy and the first thing he hears is his brother saying how beautiful Ian is in his thoughts.

Barley: So how's the most handsome person in the world doing?

Ian: *doesn't look up from homework*

Ian: I don't know. How are you?

Ian is trying to be better at being more open about his feelings toward Barley, but he's still so shy. One way he finds in research, to show someone you care, is non-verbally.

After dinner, Barley takes the family's plates to the sink and he sees Ian out of the corner of his eye avoid his gaze and make a heart out of his fingers at him.
