Who's your most favorite Mortal Apollo kid in mythology?
whoowhee he has a lot of kids let's see here...
I like Iamus based purely on how much Disney Protag vibes he gives off lmao I truly think that if he had a Disney song, it WOULD be "Go The Distance" and I mean that unironically.
I also really like Idmon, one of Cyrene's sons! He was a seer and sailed on the Argo but was run through by a boar before they reached Colchis. The thing is, he knew he would die on that voyage but went anyway, which makes him interesting imo.
Troilus :( Tenes </3 i will never forgive Achilles.
While we're on Trojan kids, Ileus! We know NOTHING about him apart from his parents but i love him because i headcanon him as a wolf boy.
EURYDICE IS AN APOLLO KID BTW!! NOT ONLY DID APOLLO UNOFFICALLY ADOPT ORPHEUS BUT HE MADE HIM HIS SON-IN-LAW AND WHEN TRAGEDY STRUCK HE WAS LIKE "OKAY MY MAN. WE'RE BOTH DEPRESSED AS FUCK. GO RESCUE MY DAUGHTER. OTHERWISE THE WORLD WILL NEVER BE HAPPY AGAIN IF WE KEEP THIS UP."
you KNOW Apollo would cry watching Hadestown. that's his baby girl :(
gosh i'm probably gonna kick myself later for forgetting someone buuuut here's my list! :3

Evadne and Iamus
(the picture above is not actually of Evadne, because I couldn’t find any public domain works of her. it is Weguelin’s painting of Lesbia, lover of Catullus, who was a real person)
Evadne was the daughter of Poseidon and Pitane, and raised by Aepytus, a king of Arcadia. Evadne fell in love with Apollo and they became lovers.
Evadne became pregnant from this relationship, but was shamed by her adoptive father Aepytus, as the child was conceived out of marriage. Furious, Aepytus left the pregnant Evadne to consult the Oracle of Delphi.
Evadne ended up giving birth in the forest, and Apollo sent Eileithyia, the goddess of midwifery, and the Moirai, aka the Fates, to assist with the birth. The child was a boy, and Evadne left him in a patch of violets. The child survived in the wilderness, as his father sent honeybees to nourish him.
Aepytus learned from the Oracle that the child’s sire was Apollo, and was destined to become a legendary prophet. He told Evadne to retrieve the child he had previously shamed. She found her child still in the violet patch and named him Iamus after the Greek word for violet. Iamus lived well with his mother and adoptive grandfather.
When Iamus came of age, he entered the waters of the river Alpheios and prayed to his alleged grandfather, Poseidon, and his alleged father, Apollo, to reveal his destiny to him. Only Apollo responded. His father appeared to him and took him to Olympia. Iamus was taught the art of prophecy by his father, and was also taught the language of the birds.
Iamus went on to become a famous prophet, and founded a great dynasty of priests called the Iamidae, who were administrators of the Olympic Games.
I really like this myth because Apollo is actually a good dad in it. Often Greek heroes are just abandoned by their father, only found after completing numerous trials, or even worse their fathers actively try to kill them. Apollo helps out the mother, nourishes the child as a baby, and also teaches him when he is older. Apollo is a pretty cool dad in this myth, that’s all I’m saying.

EVADNE & IAMUS
In Greek mythology, Evadne was a mortal raised by Aepytus of Arcadia and became pregnant by Apollo. When Aepytus discovered her pregnancy, he was furious. Ashamed, Evadne gave birth in the wilderness, where she fled and left the child. Five days later, Aepytus returned from the Delphic Oracle, where he had been told that Evadne’s child was the son of Apollo and destined to be a gifted prophet. He demanded that the child be brought to him, and so Evadne retrieved Iamus from the patch of violets where she had left him. Iamus had been nurtured for those five days by the honey of bees. Evadne named the child Iamus (“Boy of the Violets”).When he grew up, he descended into the waters and invoked Poseidon and Apollo, asking them to reveal his destiny to him. Apollo instructed him to go to Olympia. Granted the gift of prophecy, he founded the Iamidae, a family of priests from Olympia.
