Dear Jermaine (hope you don't mind me calling you that, just for the letter),
I’m going to take you back to September 13, 2010. Yankee Stadium. And I was hoping you were going to be there and for some reason I just knew you would be. I was anxious and as B.O.B was introducing you, I started to bug out! Screaming as you could imagine. And then you said somethings like “I KNOW A LOT OF YOU OUT THERE MUST BE LIKE WHO’S THIS LIGHT SKIN NIGGA ON THE STAGE!” and I started laughing. And I was standing next to two older white guys who didn’t know who you were and I screamed your name at them (being all hype and all) and the beat dropped an I was just wilding!!! WHO DAT!! WHO DAT!!
Okay, just had to share that. I’m really writing this because I’ll probably never have this opportunity again. I just want to send you the biggest thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are such a humble and beautiful human being for so many reasons and the letter would be too long if I listed all of them. I’ve been counting down with you for this day 9/27. I want to congratulate you on all your success. You have never failed to put a smile on my face. I will remain a loyal and dedicated dreamvillain, supporting everything you do. Always remaining patient and kind even if people sometimes spell ‘Cole World’ with ‘D’ instead of an ‘E’.
I can listen to The Warm Up, The Come Up, Friday Night Lights, Any Given Sunday’s and the raps I could find from when you were Therapist every single day. And now your first album is here and I know it’s a CLASSIC without even listening to it. You are the most played on my iTunes and I have over 3,000 songs but the 130 I have from you are what consume my ears for hours, days, and for years to come.
Thanks for everything, Cole World!
