It is so different to make a fort as an adult...and just as fun.
The idea here is that as adults we don’t really play with the freedom that kids do. However, we still see certain trees and think, “That would be a perfect tree to climb,” or “That corner there would be perfect for a fort.” but because we are adults, we don’t do it.
So I did it. My goal was to make an adult fort.
It’s really just an S-curve-shaped wall. I wanted adults to feel like they could interact with it without being too immature, so it doesn’t require crawling on one’s hands and knees. I wanted people to feel nostalgic, or even just cock their heads and say, “huh.”
This is at Bradley Lake Park. There was a fallen tree from a windstorm and I took advantage of the branches. This took me 2 days, maybe 6 hours or so total? It is right off the path that leads around the lake, and I got to meet a number of sweet doggos and people while working. I brought my friend along to take pictures.
While working the second day we were greeted by a nice police officer who received a call about someone setting up camp in a park. After telling him it was for an art project he said it was fine and left. But still, it is fun to say, “Someone called the cops on me.”
If you're not trying to get buried or bury me in the sand, we can't be friends. #burymeh #iamachild https://www.instagram.com/p/CEaVFkSHKOB/?igshid=171faazgnft48
Few things bring me as much joy as building things out of LEGOs. It worked when I was a kid, and it still works now. I just got this box, and I already want more 🤣 #legostagram #iamachild https://www.instagram.com/p/B9aVKR6gAwn/?igshid=mv35o3cgayzz

Because I am apparently still a 10 year old boy, I had a good giggle when I discovered a tree with testicles while out cutting wood today. #iamachild #cantstoplaughing #treenuts https://www.instagram.com/p/BvZ6MY1gZcy/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1hzydglzlkc1n

Regrann from @washingtonpost - Children along with their parents and others march to the Hart Senate Building in Washington on Thursday, the day of the court-imposed deadline for the Trump administration to return migrant children who were separated from their parents back to their families. Those in attendance wore shirts and held signs that read "I AM A CHILD." A homage to the 1968 “I Am a Man” protest led by Martin Luther King Jr., the phrase is meant to send a message to lawmakers who seem to have lost sight of the fact that children crossing the U.S.-Mexico border with or without their parents were still, in fact, children.
