Moment of Transparency
The lows suck.
Time doesn't wait for a single bitch. Our minds cling to it and we slow ourselves like a prisoner dragging our fingers in the dirt as we're pulled away but we never actually move slower, the memory is just longer in our mind like pulled taffy. I'm 8. I blink and I'm 18. Every second of ten years has passed but it's no more substantial to me than water I've already drank. Time goes on. Pain ends. The hardest part is living in the moment but the moment always ends, actuality and reality fade into memory and memory fades into nothing. Hell is not a place but a phase. We are shoved through the fires and our skin burns and blisters and smoke chokes us, but time still forces us forward. Eventually, the flames end. We will emerge ashen, scarred, some of us broken, but we will be alive. We will heal, never the same, but the flames will be only a memory, and memories can not hurt you. We're entering the flames. We don't know when they'll stop but that's all that's important. Grit your teeth, ball your fists and shout above the flames the one thing you know: that nothing can be trusted except the passage of time, and you'll be damned if you don't see this through.
