IF we have in mind the mirror version thing then here's a short list:

1. The mere idea of seeing a worse/bad version of yourself means that you're the better/good version, which is kinda sexy on a reaffirming way. Like if you're feeling bad abt yourself you may think "well i could be worse" and now you ARE seeing that its true, and you May be disgusted w/ this awful version of yourself but also...

2. The mere idea of a version of yourself that its so unapologizingly awful without remorse (that also ties w/ the reaffirming part, a direct comparation) is also kind of p hot? Imo? Like seeing some of your worst impulses that you dig deep inside or the things you wished you could do if you weren't good coming off naturally from this other you is both disturbing and freeing at the same time

3. Last but not least, having someone that Knows you, inside and out, either fully physically or mentally, is... not sexy per se but it is relieving. Like you dont have to lie, put on Any mask, because the other knows, they know. (They also know what makes you tick, exactly)

Long story short the reason why selfcest is hot is, in general, because the relaxing idea of someone knowing you so intimately but without the fear of them disliking you (not more than you already possibly dislike yourself at least). And in a more specific context its because we thrive to be better people than we already are, be it for ourselves or for acceptance, while having a v ugly side we try to repress or live at peace with, and this fantasy gives us both the reassurance that hey, we Are good, we're the good version of ourselves! While also showing just how Horrible we can be as a person like a guilty pleasure that went too far. You couldnt do that, because you're a good person, but you're still seeing yourself do it.
