What happens on this show? Like do they get an offer to be in a drama or film and stuff?
Okay, so not going to lie I went in watching this only because I knew Zha Jie, Wang Yueting and Wang Bingxiang were going on and I haven’t completely finished the first episode. But the mentors on the show are He Jiong, Jing Boran and Zhou Dongyu. I don’t know the rest of the teachers but I think their acting coach is Liu Tianchi-laoshi who is honestly???? amazing?? And she teaches at The Central Academy Of Drama- one of the three biggest acting universities.
The gist is that there are 30 rookie actors and 30 rookie actresses, who will continuously receive lessons as well as “compete” in four evaluation productions. Some contestants haven’t acted in official productions yet, others have- some are from acting majors, other’s aren’t etc etc. The final eight contestants would be casted in a drama tailored for them. If you watched <Idol Producer> you realize a lot of the sets and rules are actually the same, with mentor evaluations as well as online voting platforms to determine their ranks. The Chinese title of <I Actor> roughly translates to “”The (moral) Character Of An Actor” and is aiming to train them not only in skill, but in virtues and professional morals etc.
