hypnos from hades here. i'm partially from a modern au and partially from canon, so my disabilities are a little flippy floppy.

for my modern timeline, the most obvious stuff for me was everyone's least favorite trifecta, aka POTS, MCAS, and hEDS. my fatigue and brain fog was soooooo bad so i was pretty much housebound. i was in forearm crutches (when i was home, i found them more helpful when i had guaranteed spots to sit) or with a walker (outside, where i needed spots to rest) on good days and in a wheelchair on the worse ones. tiny confession here is that my body now only has POTS and as nice as it is to be more mobile, i think it causes me to push my body a little more than i probably should.

canon timeline is a little less cut and dry, since being a god funks everything up a bit. had really bad fatigue and what would probably be described best as akin to narcolepsy. as the personification of sleep, staying awake was HARD. i'm really thankful for my job in the house, but wowie was it a struggle to stay up for my shifts. anyway!!! i was missing a wing and terribly preferred to float rather than walk anywhere!

modern au hypnos here. the most obvious difference in my canon versus source is of course it being set in modern times, maybe 2010's and the fact that there were no gods (at least, the ones i knew and i weren't gods anymore). nothing spectacular as far as i remember, no one with wings or flaming feet and no magic dream realms for me to escape off to unless you count when i got really high. just me and my apartment with my brothers.

on that note, my relationship with some of my siblings is different too. charon and i basically have nothing to do with eachother in source, but i lived with him and thanatos in my canon. they took care of me on hard days (and good ones too<3) and i'm incredibly thankful for them. i was disabled in different ways than how i interpret my disabilities in canon as well. i was disabled to the point i could not work or even really leave the house which is pretty disimilar to how in canon i have a steady job despite the effect my need for sleep had on it.

none of this makes me "weaker" than i was in hades or constitute the hate i so often see in the fandom for people who write canons similar to mine. i don't want to get tooooo offtopic here but i have had to block a number of people because the way they talk about me in canon and hate those who write me being affected by how i was treated by those around me. fictives are not their source and i am aware they are not talking about me specifically, but it makes me nervous to share my writing about my canon or anything written that sympathizes with me.

we all do cause we keep like. I don't even know what it is. fragmenting?? cause they're not fully separate headmates! and it's always of someone we already have fully formed. and that fully formed headmate always absorbs the fragment. so we just. collect memories??? idk it's something we've all done

anyway. so this fic I read. it was really angsty, lots of Hades being a generally bad person, and of course I get the joy of absorbing a fragment of me from that. i miss than. than i really miss you. that has nothing to do with the fic im just sad and i miss you :(((

But to cast aside my own for a second, I wanted to shout out Odysseus from Epic: the musical--I haven't gotten a chance to see Hades 2's take on the fella, but I've been listening to the musical nonstop! I'd've definitely taken a liking to him! I'll bet Achilles would've liked to meet him, too! Lots in common, I'm sure! And those pipes can give Orpheus a run for his money, haha! (No offense, Orph!)

It's fun to think about Ody mingling with us chthonic types! Next time you hit up the Underworld, pal, give me a ring! So sorry about those nightmares, by the way! There's only so many ways to wring a happy memory out of non-stop trauma!

My time to shine! Literal god of sleep here hiiii!

I slept on the job, literally all the time. Got told off for it a lot but hey, I’m sleep incarnate. You can’t expect sleep himself to stay awake long hours. So if I wasn’t sleeping at my post, it’d be literally anywhere else in the house. You name it, I’ve slept there. The lounge, the archives, on my desk, the damn floor if I was tired enough. Eventually Zag started letting me sleep in his bed since his room was the closest to my post. I think I’ve slept in his bed more times than he ever has in his entire life. And when I FINALLY got time off work I’d go right back to my chambers in Erebus and passed the fuck out. I even slept inside of my my dreams in the second game, how does that work? No idea! But hey I’m the eeper of the pantheon so why not!

In my defence, sleeping is literally my entire thing. And I don’t sleep just for the sake of it, I work in my sleep! Dreams don’t deliver themselves!
