As overwhelmed as he’d been to be dragged along here, Sousuke had gotten used to the swing of things pretty quickly. It didn’t seem like he was dreaming, and it didn’t seem like he was going to be going home any time soon, either; his mother was usually busy working, so he was used to being all by himself, anyway.

“...”

Not that that made it easier.

He heaved a sigh, shifting his grip on the camera he held tightly in his hands. He really hadn’t been able to do much of anything that he would have wanted to do while here, and there was nothing to keep him busy. No schedule. No school to go to, so no classes or club to attend. He...

--oh, there was someone who looked very much like they just stepped out of... what, like, the Taishou era? Sousuke suppressed a snort.

Still, stupid as they looked, it was something to do, huh... and they looked to be around his age. Weird thing to be wearing casually, wasn’t it? Kinda ugly. So maybe --

“Excuse me!”

Sousuke had barely raised his voice, but his steps towards the other boy made it obvious that he was talking to them.

“Your clothes... is there a festival or something happening soon?”

He lifted the camera up a little to show it off.

“Haha, I’ve stolen from the world’s greatest detective.” 

“Ranpo-kun, do you think I would make a good phantom thief? You could be my rival and chase me all over the globe.” 

Dazai was just playing around, as he held out a hand to block Ranpo from getting his sweater back. His ability would not work on Ranpo, but he still had a considerable height advantage. Perhaps this was why him and Ranpo got along, they ewre both children, and they both loved to play games. 

He wondered if Ranpo was a terribly lonely child like he was, but then Dazai decided not to worry too much about it. 

“You’re right, you’re right. Red is more my color. I’d look beautiful covered in my own blood, don’t you think? I’d leave the handsomest corpse.” Dazai gave into his suicide mania for a second, before coming back to life. 

“You’re going to strip me? Gosh, gosh Why does this keep happening? I have had a terrible curse ever since I was young. Everyone who looks at me falls in love with me. It’s hard being beautiful and loved by everyone. My life is nothing but suffering with no happiness in sight.” Dazai just liked to be annoying. He had completely succeeded in his gambit of stealing away Ranpo’s sweater to get some of the man’s attention.
