Hyper Shot & Olympics mini review
I recently acquired some Hyper Shot controllers and their accompanying games, so I thought I'd do a mini review here.
The game is called Hyper Olympic in Japanese, and Track & Field elsewhere. I have one more game in the series called Hyper Sports (not pictured; its buried deep in my collection. This set will be listed on ebay shortly) and all the Famicom versions slightly differ from their NES & arcade counterparts. Konami also released this Hyper Shot controller for the Famicom, which has 2 controller but are wired into one plug; as the Famicom only has one extension port and the regular controllers on the original Famicom are hard wired in. The controller can be held either way, depending on which side you prefer your Jump or Run button. All logos are clearly marked and its pretty simple to figure out. Now as for playing the game, you better have some good button mashing skills, as your thumbs (or fists?) will be put to the test. Basically, you play a sport, and you button mash to make the qualifying time. If you miss, game over, back to start. They give you a little leeway in false starts & fouls, but not much. Maybe I should convert my NES Power Pad to work on the Famicom and maybe I would have better luck!
