Who is the Gentlest? (1ps)
✨Note: The first few post will be directly from my ao3 page, just to get the ball rolling!
Matthew is the gentlest of the Allies. He is already soft spoken and usually non-confrontational which makes him very easy for anyone smaller than him to be around. He always picks you up in cupped hands, never a fist. He is probably your best bet if you find yourself in a sticky situation, he's calm collected and very mindful of the size difference between you two. He of course has a playful side, but it takes him a while to get there with you, and even when he is it's very tame compared to someone like America. He wants to make sure you're as comfortable as physically possible, ensuring that no one grabs you or treats you like a toy.
Francis would never dare raise an aggressive hand against someone so little, he prides himself on being careful and often brags to the others (aka England), about how much tinies love being around him. Much like Canada he would never grab someone within a fist, only ever open palms. Francis loves to kiss and hold tiny people, finding them very endearing and cute and will find any reason to dress them up and take show them off. The only reason France isn't number one is because of his affections. Though he is very mindful there are times where it can be just a little too smothering especially if you're someone who isn't very keen on PDA.
In theory, Arthur should maybe be a little higher on the list, he has a lot of experience when dealing with people much, much smaller than him. He spends a lot of his time with his fairies and gnomes, though in practice he is a bit rough around the edges. He finds tinies very cute (not that he would admit that), and he gets sick at the idea of being actively mean to someone the size of his palm, though his temperamental demeanor can make him hard to be around. Arthur's scolding and yelling wouldn't be too fun to deal with, and his snark will make you roll your eyes. Overall, he's not a bad choice, he probably even has tiny supplies like clothes and furniture ready but be prepared to deal with his terrible cooking.
Yao has been around long enough to be more than comfortable with tiny people, so much so that he's lost that "fragile doll" mentality that Canada and France have. That's not to say he's careless, he just knows what it takes to hurt someone as small as you. Yao has a tendency to act like an older brother, constantly keeping watch over you and occasionally scolding you when you do something stupid. He still cares, making sure you're fed well and providing you with all of the necessities. Yao will hold you in a loose fist, cupped hands, by the back of your clothes, he's pretty casual with how he chooses to handle you. If you find yourself with him just know you're not going to be babied. You're small, but you're not made of glass.
This poor man does not realize his own strength at times. Ivan never means it and feels very, VERY guilty if you make it known that he's being a little too rough. He really likes tiny people; he finds them fascinating and wants them to like him. Unfortunately, his massive size makes him much more intimidating than say someone like England or China. If you manage to stumble upon the giant Russian just know that he will be pretty hesitant to let you go. He won't force you, but he really doesn't want you to leave. Russia does his best to keep a gentle hold on you, though his huge fingers tend to hold a little tighter than he intends. Ivan loves to get things for you, trinkets, clothes, food, furniture, he might even splurge on a dollhouse for you! Ivan is very well meaning, but a bit clumsy, especially for someone as little as you.
Oh boy, where to start. Like Russia, Alfred is very well meaning. He thinks the fact that people the size of his hand is so cool, and he loves being around them, picking them up, messing with them, carrying them, he just thinks they're neat! Though, it's his playful nature that puts him in dead last when it comes to gentle handling. If you don't mind being tossed up from his hand, poked and prodded, and played with like you're some sort of action figure, then by all means approach him! Though for most tinies his excitable nature mixed with his lack of inside voice makes it hard to want to spend long periods of time with him. Of course, if you ask, he'll tone it down but know that it won't last for more than maybe an hour. If you find yourself found by the hero himself just hope that either Canada or England are around to save you.
This scary looking German is so, so scared of you, more than you are of him. He thinks you're going to fall apart if he even just looks at you. For a while he'll be nervous to even pick you up, which can be annoying especially since at your size, it takes much longer for you to walk versus him just carrying you. Once he gets a little more comfortable things will be very pleasant, he'll make you good meals, ensure you're always safe and comfortable (keep you away from Italy and Prussia), and his handling you is always very steady and soft, despite his large and muscular appearance. Ludwig is a very good choice, the only downside with him would be his mother hen-ing. He knows that you are capable and able to take care of yourself, though the massive difference in size causes a mental block that he struggles to get over.
Him and Germany are practically tied. Kiku has a very steady, careful hand and generally is very mild mannered. He's soft spoken and very respectful, making him a very safe person to be around. He can be just a little awkward with tiny people, he finds the act of holding someone in his palm to be pretty intimate and it takes a bit for him to get comfortable with doing so, but when he comes around things are just fun. Its peaceful with Kiku, and he often likes to help build little homes/items for you (think those miniature house kits). Kiku is one of the top people to trust, he will keep your existence a secret if you ask, he respects your privacy and your space, and overall, a solid choice to go to.
Surprisingly high on the list, Lovino is pretty gentle with tinies. Most wouldn't think so, especially due to his loud and sometimes aggressive personality, but when it comes to tiny people, he is very mindful of both his volume and handling (especially if you're female presenting). Lovino is secretive about his affinity for tiny people and if asked will totally deny it, getting really flustered and embarrassed but if you're alone with him he'll be the most caring, soft and playful person ever. He's careful but not afraid to mess around and tease. The only reason he's not a little higher is because once in a blue moon he'll get snappy and huffy. He always feels guilty afterwards and will give a not apology-apology, but for someone so vulnerable it can be a little scary. Don't worry though, he'll spoil you after.
Similar to both America and Russia, Feliciano doesn't realize just how big he is compared to you. He's not careless like America is and still has some recognition of how fragile you can be, but his excitable energy mixed with his love for physical affection makes him pretty low on the gentleness scale. That's not to say that he can't be extremely gentle, in fact, if it's just the two of you he can be very soft, but if he's around Germany or Japan, or Romano, he'll be showing you off and playing around with you all day. He just adores tinies and if it were up to him, he'd have 20 tinies with him all day every day. Feliciano isn't necessarily a bad choice and can be quite fun to be around but just know you will have little peace with this man.
It is not surprising that he is here. Him and America are on the same page when it comes to treating smaller people in a too playful manner. Gilbert is much more teasing, often giving you embarrassing nicknames to highlight how miniscule you are compared to him. Gilbert does have a soft spot for you, he just keeps that buried under a mountain of mischievous and impish behavior. Gilbert thinks it's funny to play pranks on you, and even funnier that you can't get him back in the same way. He is fiercely protective of you and like his younger brother will do what he can to make sure you're safe and comfortable, but that doesn't mean he's not willing to manhandle you a little. He, like China, knows that you're not that brittle, but make sure to let him know when he's gone too far.
Berwald is very similar to Germany in the way that both of these men are massive and very scared that their size will hurt you. The only difference is that Berwald is eerily calm on the outside, not letting you know that inside he is freaking out about how tiny you are. He dotes on you, and mentally he finds tiny people cute, much like how baby animals are. Berwald is intimidating, and unfortunately that leads tiny folks to avoid him, so if you approach him, he'll be elated, even if he doesn't outwardly express that. Berwald will build you a little home himself, ensuring that it is decked out and making sure you have everything you could even need. His large hands are really nice to lay in, and he'll let you stay there for as long as you want. Overall, the giant Swed is a good choice if you want a comfortable life as a tiny.
Lukas is very calm and collected and due to his experience with tiny, mythical creatures he is very confident when it comes to handling you. Much like Sweden, tiny people tend to find him intimidating but will quickly find that Lukas is a very welcoming figure. Lukas can have a small tendency to tease, though it's not super obvious like Prussia or France, his monotone voice often softens the blow. If you're with Lukas he will carry you around with him, he liked the feeling of you being near but will respect your space if you ask. Lukas is a good choice if you want someone who isn't super affectionate. If you know him really well, then he'll nudge you affectionately or hold you to his chest, but he knows when to back off.
Tino in theory should be higher, but he can be a little too doting. Tino is very easy to approach, and he loves when he sees tinies come up to him. He can't help but feel proud at the fact that so many seem to be attracted to his gentle demeanor. The only reason the Fin is so far down on the list is because he can accidentally be a bit suffocating. He just worries about you getting hurt. So much can happen to you! And due to this, Tino has a bad habit of treating you as if you can't do anything. If you tell him off, he'll be very apologetic and promise to have more faith in you, but occasionally he will fall back into that mindset of you being hopeless. Tino is soft, yet strong, he can and will protect you with his life. Being found by Tino will be an overall comfortable and cozy experience but don't be afraid to be firm when needed.
Matthias breaks the streak of loud, excitable being the least gentle. While he loves to play around with tiny people, he is much more aware of how much bigger he is. That's not to say that he won't get a little carried away once in a while, but he definitely knows when too much is too much. Matthias is very affectionate and will often want to carry you around all day long whether that be in his hands, in his pockets, or in his bag it doesn't matter. Matthias wants to be a person that is safe for smaller folks, so he will listen if you were to tell him he's being too rough. Really, the main thing for Matthias is letting him know where your boundaries are.
Emil isn't rough in the traditional sense. He doesn't really tease you; he doesn't treat you carelessly, and he doesn't act like you're a toy, but this guy is very clumsy. If Japan is a little awkward with tinies then Emil is 1000x worse. He just doesn't really know what he should be doing. If you do manage to be held by him, get ready for a bumpy ride. His hands shake a little, his steps are strange and clunky, his grip fluctuates between too tight and not tight enough, he's honestly a bit of a mess and if you tease him then expect to not be acknowledged for a couple of hours. Emil will get better with time and practice but just know that he isn't jumping at the offer to hold you. He's holding off for both of your sakes.
