( ┊✩ ❝ SOCIETY WAS TRULY an odd place. The expectations put atop the public’s shoulders were certainly weighty. Teaching everyone to follow a certain set of rules in order to appear “normal”. Normalcy was not a word within Jinho’s existence, whether on the surface or within the seedy depths, where not even he had an idea what was happening. He was seventeen and considered conservative, by his modest home country’s standards. Though this was mostly due to his parents, people he surmised to be pure and Jesus adoring. Yet truly, they just didn’t want him out of their sights, so he could taint himself, before his day of reckoning.
VIRGINITY WAS A social construct. Or at least, this was what the teenager told himself, when others poked fun a those who had never been intimate with another. It was something he didn’t particularly care about, merely deciding not to “throw it away” in order to appease his mother and father. Yet words still stung, and he hated being looked at like less of a human, simply because he had never been inside another.
NAEUN WAS BEAUTIFUL, by any and all standards. Jinho was lucky to have such a kind, caring woman in his life. And apparently, she seemed to understand his strife, as well. He tended to wear a wide grin around her, yet when she agreed with him and the tangent he went on about virginity, it practically exploded into a beaming smile.
NORMALLY, HE DIDN’T expose himself to others, because he preferred to keep his inexperience a secret. It felt easier to admit it to her though. Surely, she’d be the last person on earth to judge him. “You don’t get why it’s a big deal either right? I wish people would focus on more important things. Me not having sex isn’t any of their business.” He promptly nodded, feeling heat surge through his cheeks from the simple confession. That wasn’t too bad, but shame still stung at his insides for some unknown reason.
TRULY, SHE FEELS RATHER guilty that the younger male has a different reaction by many others for his purity. naeun even found it surprising herself, that he radiates innocence that many men have lost during his age or younger. something along the lines of puberty and raging hormones are the source of such a behavior, as told by many of her male friends over the past years. jinho was too young for that anyways, shouldn’t care for that and the world is filled with people who would taint anything with their choices. fill their minds into believing that this or that is okay, when sometimes it really isn’t.
“not at all, i believe in doing such a thing with the right person and when the timing is right too.” perhaps, that’s why she hasn’t really made an effort to grow too intimate with anybody. despite her confusing connection with an old flame, she isn’t ready. doesn’t feel comfortable with having conversations about it at all. so, it’s only naturally for naeun to understand what he’s thinking and going though.
with her feet aimlessly stepping from one side to another, hands interlocked from behind. her dark hues looked over at his youthful features, the hint of color on his cheeks was a hint of what he must feel currently. “you’re not the only one, don’t you worry.” naeun isn’t sure if the hint was evident or not, that she was referring to herself during this topic but she was being honest. there were plenty of people who weren’t into it. believes to have sex after marriage or for their own unique reasons too.
“never feel bad either, if people think it’s weird then that’s on them. it’s quite precious that you’re not interested in that, makes me believe that men aren’t too bad after all.” speaking truthfully, her lips show off a faint smile and rather apologetic for her choice of words. she doesn’t intend on displaying judgement towards the opposite gender, a small handful have done their wrongs without consequences and she enjoys hearing something new. from him and being around him was refreshing.
