Summary: Â Hvitserk and Y/N have a date and spend a nice evening together. Will the date actually help Y/N get over Ivar and how will it influence the relationship between Hvitserk and Y/N?
Introduction Part 1 Part 2 Part 4
What did he just suggest? To go on a date with him!? Not quite sure what to respond I asked him to repeat what he said. âGo on a date with me! Perhaps I can help you to get over my brother.â, he shrugged his shoulders seeming all innocent. I could not utter a word. All I did was stare at him dumbfoundedly. âUmâŚâ, I breathed in. âI really appreciate your offer, butâŚâ, I fussed around.  Suddenly I heard the church bells ring on the hour. âYou know what, itâs quite late. I should get going!â, I dried my somewhat sweaty hands on my jeans before standing up. âY/N!â, Hvitserk got up after me and calmly called out my name. âIt is a request rather than an offer!â, he looked at me, very convincingly and very charming as well. âIâm sorry!â, I apologized embarrassed of everything Iâve just told him, âI shouldnât have dragged you into my problems! I really didnât mean to trouble you!â. âYou donât need to apologize! You didnât bother me at all!â, he said sincerely, âYou know what, Iâll forget everything youâve told me, under one conditionâŚ!â. I looked at him questioning and awaiting. âGo on a date with me!â.
Again, I didnât believe my ears. I breathed in and was about to question his intention again, but he interfered, âNo buts!â. It was all silent and the only source of light was the floor lamp next to the sofa whose light made Hvitserkâs face appear golden. I let my gaze wander downwards thoughtfully for a moment before shrugging. âOkay. Why not.â, I nodded at him.
âGreat!â, he exclaimed, âIâll pick you up tomorrow, letâs say around 5 pm, if youâre free then.â, he suggested. âYeahâŚ, sure, thatâs fine by me!â, I somewhat avoided any eye contact. âI see you tomorrow then!â, I abruptly ended our conversation and made my way outside. Hvitserk just grinned at me.
I pulled the door close behind me and breathed in deeply. Did I really just agree to go on a date with him, with Hvitserk, Ivarâs brother, of all people?! I put my hand to my heart. And am I really all bubbly about it?! Apparently, my heart leaped in the air.

âI donât know what to wear!â, I felt frustrated, âItâs just a casual meeting among friendsâŚ, maybe I should stick with a simple t-shirt, jeans and sneaker look.â. I was on the phone with my best friend while I literally rummaged through my wardrobe and tried on something here and there. âAfter what you've told me, I donât think itâs âjust a casual meeting among friendsâ! He explicitly said date, didnât he?!â, she was correct, âYou should wear a nice outfit, a nice dress or somewhat similar! Imagine him taking you to a fancy restaurant and you show up in a sloppy t-shirt! Thatâs a no-go!â. âYouâre rightâŚâ, I pulled out a burgundy-colored dress, but shortly afterwards I put it away again, âBut I donât want to get his hopes up!â. One objection after another. âYouâre sure about that?â, my best friend questioned my intentions, âConsidering the fact that you put so much thought into your outfit, you seem to have some interest in the guy yourself! Maybe deep down inside you, you âwant to get his hopes upâ!â. I thought about it for a moment, but as quickly rejected that thought again. âNonsense!â, I exclaimed, âheâs just a very helpful friend, thatâs all!â. Through the phone I could hear her sigh. âBelieve what you want, but donât you dare put your foot out the door wearing a shabby t-shirt! At least wear a nice blouse with the classiest jeans and sneaker youâve got!â, she advised me and eventually I followed her advice.
All ready for the date I sat there on my sofa waiting for Hvitserk to ring to pick me up. I bounced my leg to compensate with my nervousness while continuously checking the time. It was currently 9 minutes to 5 pm. So, I still had 9 minutes left to either regret agreeing to go on a date with him in the first place or to imagine how the date would go. I simply decided to do both: âI shouldâve said no⌠what if I completely embarrass myself in front of him⌠it's not like I haven't already.â.
The bell rang. I was startled since he was 5 minutes early. That means I had no time left to worry any longer. Maybe itâs better that way. Iâll just take the plunge, what could possibly happen.
I jumped up, straightened my blouse and my jeans, and made my way to the door. After I took one last deep breath, breathing in my own perfume I opened the door ready to greet Hvitserk. Calm down already, heâs just a friend. I reminded myself in my head, but as soon as I took a look at him, his handsome face, his neatly combed-back hair, his very fine outfit, especially at his not completely buttoned up shirt I felt my heart disconnecting with my head. It was out of control, and it was affecting me. âHi.â, thatâs all I managed to get out. Itâs obviously off to a great start.
âHi, youâre ready?â, he said smiling at me. That smile. âUm, yeah, sure!â, I just grabbed my purse before I made my way outside closing the door behind me. Hvitserk has parked his car right in front of my entrance. He even held the door open for me. Very charmingly. âThank you!â, I thanked him and got into his car. I buckled up and waited for Hvitserk to get into the car as well. As soon as he started the engine, he made sure I was warm enough by turning the heating on. Â âSo, are you hungryâ, he asked me while fastening his own seatbelt. âKind of.â, I watched him. âWhat do you wanna eat then?â, he placed his hands on the steering wheel and looked at me questioning, but as always, I had no idea. âWhat about pizza? I know a great Italian restaurant nearby.â, he suggested. âPizza is always a good choice!â, I grinned, which made him grin too. âThen letâs get going! We need to recharge our energy for what I have planned for today.â. âWhich is what exactly?â, I asked him curiously looking outside while he was driving. âI wonât tell you yet!â, he laughed, âLetâs grab something to eat and then Iâll tell you!â.
As soon as we arrived the smell of pizza and pasta rose to our noses, and I instantly became hungrier. Thank God it didnât take long for the ordered pizza to be served. While eating we kept the conversation going and talked about various topics. It didnât feel awkward anymore. It actually felt nice being with him, enjoying dinner together and talking about literally everything under the sun. âY/N!â, I gave him a confused look. âYou've got some tomato sauce on the corner of your mouth.â, he pointed out to me slightly grinning. âOh!â, I exclaimed and instantly reached for my napkin. âBy the way, you look stunning today!... As always of course!â, he complimented me while I was busy wiping away the tomato sauce. I couldnât help but beam while a pleasant feeling spread inside of me. âThank you! I can fully return this compliment!â, I was still beaming and not able to hide it. For a moment we just looked at each other widely smiling.
That smile only faded when he told me what he had planned for the rest of the evening. After he had paid the bill and we made our way back to his car he told me he wanted to take me to a climbing gym. I had obviously not expected that. âIf you donât want to, thatâs totally fine!â, he reassured me, âbut Iâm sure itâll be fun!â. I thought about his idea for a while, considering the fact I havenât done this before. Nevertheless, I had the feeling that it could really be a lot of fun, so out of the feeling I agreed to go climbing with him. And just to be clear, I haven't regretted the decision for one second. In fact, it was a great experience, and I was grateful to him for making me try out something completely new.
I was sitting on a couch in the lounge room of the climbing gym waiting for Hvitserk to get us a refreshing drink. âSo, how was it?â, he asked as soon as he came back holding two cokes. He sat down next to me and handed me one coke. âIt was great!â, I responded. âIâm relieved to hear that! So, you would do this again someday?â, he asked me, and I looked at him a little perplexed. âYeah, sureâŚâ, I answered slowly. What is he getting at? âPerfect, Iâll keep that in mind!â, he grinned and took a sip from his coke while I watched him doing so smiling to myself. And he noticed it which made him smirk.
Contrary to expectations, the evening with Hvitserk was very nice. I enjoyed every second and most of all I had fun. Hvitserk always made sure I had enough to laugh about. He really is a great guy. On the way back I reflected on the eveningâs experiences and impressions, and I had absolutely nothing to complain about. Here and there I glanced over at him and watched him concentrating on driving. I slightly began to see him in a new light.
When he parked in front of the entrance to my apartment, I felt slightly sad. Looking back, the evening passed far too quickly, as good times usually do.
âThank you so much for the evening!â, I thanked him while he accompanied me to the door. âAlways happy to do it again!â, he said, looking down at me. âIs that an invitation?â, I asked, partly seriously partly joking. âIf you want it to be one!â, he sounded completely serious, and I grew nervous again. Do I? Do I want to go on a date with him again? âMaybe.â, I and my head responded while my heart screamed out a definite "yes". He let out a quiet sigh and I clearly heard it, since no other sound drowned it out. âAt least thatâs not a no!â, he said smiling although he sounded slightly disappointed. I instantly felt sorry for being this stubborn and felt the urge to make it up to him. âItâs definitely not a no! I really had a great time today!â, I reassured him and brought a grin back to his lips.
Then we stood there. Not really knowing how to say goodbye. At least I wasnât exactly sure about what to do or say.
âWell, then I suppose Iâll see you around!â, he spoke up first. A simple goodbye is what we are used to after all. âSure!â, I smiled up at him, before our ways parted, physically but not emotionally. And then there was still Ivar, who was also scurrying around in my head.
Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed the third part as well. đ¤đ§Ą

Summary: Â Getting over Ivar turned out to be a lot harder than Y/N had hoped. Y/N thinks about two options, she could try out. Will one of these two options actually work out?
Introduction Part 1 Part 3
I had so much fun spending time with Hvitserk that I not once thought about Ivar for the rest of the day. I nearly was glad he stood me up, otherwise I wouldâve never known how much fun his brother is. I wasnât mad at Ivar until I received a message from him around noon the next day. Obviously, itâs been a long night for him. âIâm sorry I had to cancel our meeting. Iâll make up for it! I promise!â, he wrote and added a cute smiley face at the end. âYeah, whatever.â, I spoke to myself while rolling my eyes at his message. I wasnât in the mood to answer him right away, so I put my phone aside and decided to answer him as soon as I calmed down a little.
Easier said than done. The message got me all hyped up again and thoughts of him and that girl nearly broke my nerves. A few minutes ago, I was all happy and satisfied after the nice evening I spend with Hvitserk and now I was preparing lunch, rather roughly cutting the vegetables while fretting about Ivar and his new love interest. Clearly, I was jealous of her. âI bet they were all lovey-dovey yesterday. Considering the time he texted me, they had a nice evening, probably even a nice night together. Well, good for her!â, I grumbled to myself and chuck the vegetables into the pan.
While the vegetables were roasting, I browsed through several dating apps looking for a potential date. I needed to move on and get over Ivar as soon as possible, so I decided to pull myself together and give these online dating platforms a try. Why not? It canât get much worse than a total flop, right? My goal was to eventually fall in love by which means I would see Ivar only as my best friend and no longer as something he will never be to me.
Eventually, after a lot of swiping to the left, I agreed to meet up with someone. Judging by the photos he uploaded he was a very handsome young man and the conversation we had was also very promising. At least I was confident about this date not being a total flop. The operative word is was.
In the beginning everything went well. We had a nice meal and a nice conversation at a lovely restaurant. So far, he made a good impression, and I must admit in real life he was way more handsome than on his pictures. A really good catch. I thought.
I cheered too soon. After we finished our meal and left the restaurant, we decided to go to the cinema nearby and watch a movie. We bought the tickets to a random movie and went into the almost empty cinema hall. Since we were still very much full, we didnât order anything to drink nor to eat. We, or at least I just wanted to end the until then nice date as cozy as possible. He on the other hand had other plans. As soon as the lights went off, he started touching me and tried to get me into the mood. Immediately I realized that he didnât intend to find the love of his life like I intended to, but to find someone to hook up with. âWould you please stop!â, I said to him while pushing his hands away. Since I wasnât up for that, I abruptly ended the date and left him sitting there startled. Obviously, we werenât on the same page.
âWhat was I thinking? It would have been too good to be true!â, I ruffled my hair and left the cinema all disappointed (more in myself than in him). I shouldâve known better. Getting over Ivar by forcing myself to fall for a random guy was a nice try, but obviously it didnât work out. âMaybe I should talk to him!â, I decided to pull myself together and be honest with him. âHe will turn me down, but maybe then I can put the whole âI love my best friendâ-thing behind myself.â, I thought. No sooner said than done. Almost.
I got into my car. Thank god I insisted on driving by myself and convinced him to just meet me at the restaurant. I started the car and drove to Ivarâs apartment.
I arrived quite late and from the outside of the building I couldnât count even one light which was still switched on. He mightâve been sleeping already, but I didnât care, I just wanted to get my confession over and done with as soon as possible. So, I rang the bell. One time. Twice. And one last time. After the third time a rather angry voice rang out of the intercom: âWhoâs there and what the hell do you want?â. It wasnât Ivarâs voice, it was Hvitserkâs. Oh dear. I felt my cheeks redden out of embarrassment. âHereâs Y/N! Iâm so so sorry! I didnât want to bother you.â, I apologized. âI just need to talk to Ivar. Itâs important. Is he home?â. âItâs okay.â, his voice didnât sound angry anymore, âcome upstairs.â. He let me in by pressing the door release button.
I went upstairs unconsciously smiling and was greeted by a shirtless Hvitserk, who seemed to be still half asleep. âIvar is in his room, but heâs on the phone with someone.â, he informed me while letting me in. âOh, okay, then Iâd rather come by tomorrow.â, I said and turned halfway towards the entrance. âI thought something important came up?!â, he looked at me questioning. âWell, kind of.â, I shrugged. Him standing there shirtless throw me for a loop. âWhy go then?â, he laughed and led me into the living room. âMake yourself at home!â, he said and grabbed a shirt, which was thrown over the backrest of the sofa. âthanks.â, I stumbled and sat down on the sofa while secretly watching him putting his shirt on. I must admit, I liked the view. Either way, with and without the shirt.
âDo you want something to drink?â, he asked. I shook my head. âNo, thank you.â, I declined with thanks. âOkay, then, whatâs so important that it canât wait till daytime?â, he curiously raised his eyebrows while grinning. At first, I didnât want to tell him the truth, after all heâs Ivarâs brother. So, I risked myself with careless talk. I couldnât make up very believable excuses this quick and eventually told him the truth. I donât know why, but I trusted him. âI already tried to get over it by going on a date, but it didnât work out as I hoped it would.â, I confessed. He nodded understandingly. âWell, I donât think itâs a good idea to tell him.â, he said, âthings would get awkward between the two of you!â. âI know, butâŚ.â, Hvitserk interrupted me. âMaybe your first idea isnât that bad at all. You just have to go out with a much nicer guy.â, he suggested. âEasier said than done!â, I snorted. âGo on a date with me then!â, he grinned.
I really hope you enjoyed the second part of âI Wish I Were Herâ.đ¤đ§Ą

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 8
A few seconds ago, I was gazing at a picture of an old church which made me reminisce about everything I had experienced back there. I reminisced about the time I spent with Hvitserk and I wished for one more chance to see him again just to say a proper goodbye. He deserved it. Since Iâve been back home, I felt terrible not only because I missed him, but also because I had a guilty conscience for leaving him shortly after I promised, I would stay with him. I definitely had things to straighten out and now I got the chance to do so.
The picture printed inside that old history book turned into reality. From one second to the other, I was standing in front of that church like I was when I first came here, still holding the book in my hands. Despite the fact that it is already the third time I travelled in time I still couldnât believe my eyes. My brain needed a few minutes feeling the cold air against my not so warmly dressed body and hearing people talk in an unfamiliar but yet familiar language to really understand Iâm actually back. I was brought back to York.
Iâm back. Iâm really back. Happy about being back I strolled around York smiling to myself. All the time I thought it wonât be possible to come back here since I didnât even know how I came here the first time, but I did it. The only thing left to do now is finding Hvitserk and I should be quick since I donât know when my time here is up. What I didnât know was, Hvitserk wasnât back from Haralds kingdom yet.
Eager to find him I looked everywhere I thought he might be, but he was nowhere to be found. What made the situation even harder for me was the cold temperature. Since I just got beamed out of my cozy home, I was only wearing a cozy loungewear set and fluffy slippers. All in all, not very suitable for a indeed very spontaneous trip to York especially in the colder months of the year. The people crossing my way were all staring at my shivering figure and wondering what in the world I was wearing. I felt exactly like when I first came here, except for the fact that I knew some of these people and they knew me.
âY/N?â, a woman came running to me. It was the maid who used to lend me a helping hand with managing my daily chores from time to time. âWhat are you doing here? Shouldnât you be joining the Ragnarssons on their raid?â. Her sudden question took me by surprise. Apparently, something wasnât going as I expected it to. Ivar and Hvitserk werenât back from their raid and I shouldnât ether. What should I tell her? I need an explanation, quickly. I was staring at her quietly thinking about a credible lie as she spoke up: âWhat on earth are you wearing?! You must be freezing!â. My constantly shivering body seemed to have distracted her. Thank god. For now. âLetâs get you inside!â, she laid a hand on my back, shoving me forward.
Hvitserks POV
Completely lost in thought I was sitting at the bottom of the ship back to York. Since our plan of attacking Kattegat didnât come to fruition we decided to sail back and work on our plan for the time being but to be honest I didnât really care about the plan anymore. All I could think of and all I wanted to know was why Y/N left and if I will ever see her again or if sheâs gone forever. Actually, I had so many questions on my mind I feared I would never get the answers to. I knew deep down that sooner or later she wouldâve been gone. I didnât believe we would get the chance to spend a lifetime together since we belonged to completely different time periods, but I hoped the time together would still last quite a while. As one old saying goes âhope is the last to dieâ. After spending days looking for her and not even finding a hint to the whereabouts of her I gave up looking for her and with every week going by my hope did fade away. âI should simply accept my fateâ, I thought shrugging my shoulders.Â
The only good thing her disappearance entailed was that Ivar wouldnât take advantage of her. I didnât know what Ivar had in mind since Iâve told him about Y/Nâs personal background, but I knew it wonât be a good thing. Somehow, he would make use of her and the fact sheâs from the future. So, wherever she was, she would be safe and thatâs all that mattered. Only for that reason I actually wanted her to stay away. I glared at Ivars back. He was sitting inside of that boat ahead of the one I was sailing with. I knew Ivar too well. He wonât let an opportunity to successfully take revenge and overcome any barriers slip though his fingers even if his success is bound to the expense of others.
Time flew by and our ships were slowly entering the port of York. Ivars ship was the first one to arrive at the port. After the ship was tightly tied to a wooden pillar and a plank was leaned on the edge of the ship to close the gap to the port Ivar got off refusing any help but supported by his crutches.
Y/N POV
When the Viking ships entered the port, I was strolling the city, this time suitable dressed but completely spaced out. I still had no idea how to explain to everyone why I suddenly disappeared and turned up back here in York. There was no possible way for me to come here on a natural basis. What the hell am I supposed to tell them. The only person I could be honest to was Hvitserk. He needed an apology more than an explanation. Hopefully I can talk to him first. Maybe he has an idea how to get me out of this mess.
If I knew at this point that Hvitserk wasnât the only one who knew about my personal background anymore I would have prepared myself for a greater problem. I would have been on the look-out for Hvitserk in the first place. Would have been more careful about my surroundings. In the end I would have hid by Hvitserks side until time decided it was again time for me to go back to my own time period and that time I wouldnât leave without saying Hvitserk a proper goodbye since that time it might really be the last time we would see each other in our lifetime.Â
But I didnât knowâŚ
When I heard a crowd loudly rejoice over something, I became curious and out of my curiosity I went down the road in the direction where the sound came from. As I came nearer, I saw the ships and instantly, a smile played on my lips. I instantly knew Hvitserk came back and a warm fuzzy feeling grew inside of me. I wanted to run all the way down to the port but suddenly a tall and strong looking man blocked my way. Seeing this man standing right before me made me take fright. My smile was gone.
âIvar Ragnarsson wants to see you!â, he said with his deep voice. How does he already know Iâm here? The maid must have told him. I couldnât even protest. He just took me by my arm and pulled me in the direction of Ivars place. What is it now what he wants from me?! Still I didnât have a clue. As I took a glance back to the port, I saw him. I saw Hvitserk and I wished Ivar wouldnât keep me occupied for too long.
After Iâve been shoved into the entrance hall I immediately felt a pair of eyes on me. Rubbing my arm where the man held me not so gently a few seconds ago I glanced up to him. There he was. Ivar was sitting casually in his throne evilly grinning at me.
âI see, you came back from the future all safe and sound.â
He knows?! I was shocked and instantly afraid of whatever he might do to me. Â
Summary: Y/N and Hvitserk find their way back to each other.
A/N: I really hope the 11th part of this story turned out well and youâll enjoy reading it. I'm sorry it took me so long.đ As always, Iâd appreciate any kind of feedback.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10
What were I thinking? How could I possibly believe that he could come with me? He is and will always be a historical person. I sighed and looked at the church. As I watched the construction workers remodel the church, exchanging the windows with some new windows out of artistic glass, since the old ones had some cracks, I wondered if the remodeling could have an impact on time travelling. The change to the church might symbolize the end of time travelling. This thought hit me hard and I realized, I wouldnât see Hvitserk again. It was the end. And again, I didnât really say goodbye to him. I pressed my lips together, forcing me not to cry. There were too many people around me and even if me crying wonât let them think Iâm crazy, my clothing would and I had the feeling that was already the case, because everyone that went past me eyed me puzzled. Too bad it wasnât Halloween. If it had been, my middle-age-like dress wouldnât have attracted that much attention.
To step out of the center of attention and calm down a bit I rushed home and let myself fall down on my bed. I let out a heavy sigh as I landed on my comfy bed. At least I didnât have to worry about Ivar any longer. I was back in my own safe four walls, could enjoy futureâs features and could meet up with my family and friends again. As great that was and as thankful I was for that, I was still far from being happy. I was missing the love of my life and I always would.
At least this time he knows how I feel about him.
Days went by and I slowly got used to my normal and somewhat lonely life again. I met up with my family and friends, been to work, I simply enjoyed my normal life with all the benefits future offered, but I wouldâve enjoyed them a lot more if Hvitserk would have been with me. How often did I imagine, introducing him to my family members and friends and how amusing it would have been watching him struggle with using electronic devices? I would have had a lot to explain to him and he would have had a lot to get used to. A lot has changed and what if the changes would have been too much for him to handle? Sometimes I thought it was better this way, at least for him. Back then they believed in Nordic gods and fought against Christianity, now the majority of the people were Christians, and nobody believed in Nordic gods anymore.
I was sitting on my sofa watching some tv as a thought struck me. Since Hvitserk stayed in his own time zone, wouldnât he be mentioned in the book again? I had to find out.
ButâŚ
It wasnât with me. I realized after I looked everywhere. Ivar had it.Â
Hvitserkâs POV
I was sitting at a table trying to get at least a bit of the food down but all I did was pushing the food around on the plate. Since the night Y/N left, Iâve been lost in thoughts although there wasnât anything left to think about anymore. It was impossible for me to come with her, to travel in time otherwise I would already be with her and I couldnât do anything to change that. So, instead of racking my brain I should accept my fate and move on.
Easier said than done.
âStill pouting, huh?â, Ivar knocked on the table in front of me and laughed and I breathed in deeply and tried to hold myself back. âJust leave me alone, Ivar!â, I didnât even look at him, because I knew I would snap at him. âGet over it; Hvitserk. Itâs better that way, and you know it!â, Ivar said, âYouâre a Viking after all!â. âAre you done talking?â, I glared at him obviously not amused. Must be easy for him to say that since he was the one who prevented me from going. If it hadnât been for him, I wouldnât have been sitting there.
Ivar shrugged and went past me to his throne. âYouâll get over it soon. Sooner or later youâll find a new woman. There are plenty of women out there to choose from.â, now Ivar had said too much. âYou know how much Y/N meant and still means to me! If it wasnât for you, I would be with her right now and wouldnât sit here listening to your meaningless advice.â, I got worked up, âI donât want another woman, I want Y/N because I love her, but you donât understand the meaning of love, do you?â. Ivar opened his mouth to protest, but he didnât know exactly what to say. He knew I was right. Up to that moment Ivar didnât know love. âYou donât, because if you knew, you wouldnât have interfered when I was about to go with Y/N, you wouldâve let me!â, I got up, âAs my brother, I expected you to support me as I always supported you, brother!â. I left my food nearly untouched and made my way out. I needed to calm down.
âHvitserk!â, I heard Ivarâs voice coming from behind me as I was strolling the town. What now? I sighed and waited for Ivar to come to me. As he came nearer, I became aware of the book he brought with him. It was Y/Nâs book. I got even more curious as he gave it to me. Hesitantly I took it and watched him with a questioning look on my face, âWhy do you give it to me?â. âI thought you might need it; as a keepsake or as a connection to the future. It might help.â, Ivar shrugged with his shoulders. I looked down at the book and thought back to what Y/N has told me:â The more clearer you imagine the place you want to time travel to, the higher is the chance you actually get there.â. I smiled to myself hoping it would really work that way and the book fires my imagination, but then I wondered what made Ivar change his mind. âWhy do you help me?â, I asked. âI had the feeling I might regret it if I donât. So, what are you waiting for? Use it, do whatever you want with it, but make it work this time. Iâm not going to stop you.â, Ivar turned around but before he could leave, I thanked him. âFarewell, Brotherâ, we said to each other before I started to study the book and indeed, I found a postcard which showed a statue in its full colors. While wondering how such a snapshot could actually exist, I delved deeply into it.
Y/N POV
As I were walking through the city, I went past a lot of amused and at the same time irritated looking people. If it had been just one or two, I would have shrugged it off easily but nearly everyone looked that way. I also overheard a few people talking about a man who was wearing weird clothes. A few of them assumed he was a stage actor. Their irritated facial expressions and their conversations made me curious and I wanted to know what this was all about.
When I reached the market square, I couldnât believe my eyes. I expected anything but that. The person I thought I would never see again stood right in front of me and I realized the person everyone was talking about and were irritated by was no other than Hvitserk. My love. Am I dreaming? For a moment I just stood there as if I were a statue myself, almost like the one Hvitserk was standing next to. I stared at Hvitserk. He seemed overwhelmed and unsure what to do and how to behave. Compared to all of these people he was by far the most irritated one. I had to get him out of here.
I rushed to him, grabbed his hand and made him come with me. I pulled him behind a building and hugged him without hesitation. âYou made it!â, I said happily. Hvitserk hugged me back and kissed my forehead, âIâm so glad, it worked!â. We looked at each other and I started laughing, âLetâs get you changed!â. I pulled out my mobile phone and called a taxi while Hvitserk was curiously looking at me or rather at the thing in my hand. âA lot has changed!â, I grinned at him, âBut donât worry, youâll get used to it. Iâll help you!â, I kissed his nose.
With the taxi we were not only driving home but also to a completely new stage of life. There were a lot of happy and exciting times ahead of us.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 7
On the way back to Haralds kingdom nearly no one spoke a word. Everyone felt frustrated and sad. They were defeated and many of their warriors died for nothing. When they arrive back in their kingdom, they wouldnât have good news to bring. Hvitserk felt frustrated just as they did but he was also glad to come back earlier than expected. For the first time in his life there was someone who longingly waited for his return and knowing this gave him the feeling of being truly loved and it felt great. He was smiling to himself every time he imagined meeting her again. When it came to her it didnât really matter to him that they had just lost the fight. He could have never imagined there would be someone whoâs more important to him than anything else until he met Y/N and instantly fell in love with her. Love was it what brought him happiness even when he was supposed to feel bad like everyone else around him felt like. On their way back he didnât think about the lost fight all he could think about was the confession he had to make. He just had to confess to her how he truly felt about her, and it would be the first thing he would do after arriving back in Haralds kingdom, at the place he had last seen her.
As they arrived, he nearly jumped out of the ship. The ship wasnât tied up yet as he already ran along the harbor towards the chamber, heâd shared with her hoping he would find her there but to his chagrin she wasnât there. Hoping he would find her exploring the kingdom he went looking for her. Time passed and he still didnât find her or anyone who could tell him where she was. The people he asked even emphasized they havenât seen her for a few days. âIâve not seen her since you left.â, an elderly woman told him.
âShe promised me she wouldnât leave.â, he thought wondering where else she possibly was. âShe didnât go back, did she?â, he was holding on to his hope Y/N was still there and didnât go back to the future. He wasnât ready to give up on her especially not without confessing his feelings to her.
âWhere is she? Where is Y/N?â, Hvitserk stormed into the main hall where Harald and Ivar were sitting on a wooden bench talking to each other.
Ivar and Harald looked at each other before turning their attention back to Hvitserk. âSheâs not here anymore. â I was told she disappeared over night.â, Harald told him signalizing him to sit down with them.
Hvitserk sat down with them and was deeply lost in his thoughts as Ivar leant forward and spoke up: âIâve tolerated enough now. - I think itâs time for you, brother, to break your silence and tell us everything you know!â. Ivar observed Hvitserk and he looked anything but pleased. Harald on the other side leaned back and listened curiously to whatever Hvitserk was about to say.
âWhat do you mean Ivar! Iâve already told you; I donât know more than you do!â, Hvitserk looked from Ivar to Harald and back to Ivar not sure where this conversation would lead to. As if he told them a crazy joke, Ivar started laughing out loud. Thatâs when Hvitserk knew Ivar had lost his temper and wouldnât be patient any longer.
âDo you take me for an idiot? You should know I might be a cripple but Iâm far from being an idiot. â You two have been together for a while now and you seriously want me to believe you donât know anything about where sheâs from or what sheâs even doing here?!â, Ivar raised an eyebrow. âBesides, I overheard your little conversation about her family back on our way here. Seems to me that you know exactly where she belongs to.â
Hvitserk looked at Ivar provocatively as he answered: âEven if I knew I wouldnât tell you, Ivar! Whatever you have in mind, it would mean no good for her or her people! I donât think I have to remind you, you destroyed even our family!â. He provoked Ivar so far that he angrily grabbed Hvitserk by his collar.
âLagertha is the one who destroyed our family by killing our mother and Ubbe betrayed us, but thatâs not the point here. â You will tell me everything you know, or I consider you as a traitor as well.â, Ivar threatened him.
âFine.â, Hvitserk gave up thinking Ivar wouldnât find a way to the future anyway. Hoping Y/N would be safe wherever she was now Hvitserk opened up: âShe told me sheâs from the future. It wasnât planned; it was a coincidence she came here.â. He told Ivar and Harald nearly everything sheâd told him about the future. âThatâs all I know!â, he pushed Ivars hands off of him.
âThe future, huh?â, Ivar laughed not believing what his brother just told him. That was by far not the answer heâd expected.
âIf you donât believe me, Ivar, then itâs not my problem. I donât have anything more to tell you except that you should leave Y/N alone!â, Hvitserk glared at Ivar before standing up. He was on his way out of the room to continue looking for Y/N even if the chance to actually find her was smaller than finding a needle in the haystack.
âSo, Y/N went back to her time zone?â, Ivar asked already thinking about the benefit the new informationâs will bring even if he still didnât entirely believe Hvitserks words.
Y/N POV
Itâs been a long time since Iâve last seen my home. It felt great but also kind of strange to be back. After a long time, I had a talk with my family and friends, and I were surrounded by people, places and things I knew like the back of my hand but there was still something missing. Everything Iâve missed back there in history I got back but now there was one thing or better one person out of history I missed instead. Hvitserk. Every single day I spent so much time with him and suddenly he wasnât with me anymore and there was no chance to get close to him again. He was so far away from me that even by phone I couldnât possibly reach him. I couldâve reached him through time travel, but I considered that as impossible to do again and I had no choice but to put up with it.
The fact that Hvitserk wasnât part of this time zone didnât mean he wasnât a part of me and my thoughts. There wasnât one single day I didnât think about him and wondered how lifeâs going for him. I thought about the battle he went to and I worried about him. The worst part was not knowing if heâs still alive but there was a way to obtain clarity.
In history you would never get your hands on any clear informationâs about the future but on the contrary the future grants us access to all kind of informationâs about even very distant times. I just had to go to the nearest library and search for a book about the viking history. Books about the middle ages were quickly found but specific books about Vikings werenât easy to find. It took me a while until I finally stumbled upon one quite old looking book which included informationâs I needed.
I took a seat and browsed through the book concentrating on every passage that mentioned even a little bit about Hvitserk. I read about the lost battle and the return of the defeated warriors who had survived and as I came across that one name, I was instantly relieved. He had survived and safely returned to Haralds kingdom accompanied by his brother Ivar and king Harald. Thank god heâs fine. Curious about what the future holds for him I kept reading but to my surprise I couldnât find any more informationâs about him. Following Pages were filled with many stories about his brothers, but he was nowhere found not even between the lines almost as if his story got erased. Wondering about possible reasons why heâs been left unmentioned, I decided to borrow the book and take it home with me to restudy it assuming I might have missed something.
Back at home I instantly pulled the old book out of my bag and began to reread the passages Iâve already read but still there wasnât any trace of Hvitserk. What happened to him? Lost in thoughts I continued flipping through the book as one of the rarely to be found black and white pictures caught my attention. The picture clearly showed the church Iâd seen in York, spotlighted by the light of the bright full moon.
The picture had fully caught my eye and I couldnât stop starring at it. Something about that picture felt incredible real. It was almost like I was blinded by that bright moonlight myself and strangely I felt cold air fluoting around me and made me shudder. Finally, I could take my eyes off of that picture and I closed that book. Thatâs enough research for today.
I looked up and suddenly I wasnât in my comfy home anymore...
Summary: After arriving in king Haraldâs kingdom everything is going to change.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 6
Before I knew it, I found myself sitting on the bottom of a viking ship. After I agreed to raid with them or rather was forced to, I didnât have much time to prepare myself for this new kind of journey. Before dawn we had to leave the harbor and with it the town I finally got used to behind. I didnât get much sleep. While Hvitserk was sleeping peacefully like a marmot beside me I couldnât stop thinking about the raid. Soon there would be a battle in which again countless people will die and with it a dozen of families will experience a great loss. I thought about the people I got to know in the past month of me being there as well as Hvitserk who I unexpectedly fell deeply in love with. I loved him so much, I couldnât stand him being hurt or even dead. Without him I had no one I could trust like I can trust him. There wouldnât be anyone who would let me feel like home as he did. He was as important for me as my family and friends back in my timezone were.
One thought lead to another and now I was starring into the still not brightened sky and thought about all the things I missed about my old life. Will I ever see them again? Â
âYou should get some sleep. We got a long day ahead of us.â, Hvitserk said to me while adjusting the fur which was supposed to keep me warm in such a cold night. I thanked him before I shook my head. âIâm not really tired!â.Â
As I looked at him, I noticed he was watching me in disbelief. âWhat is it really that keeps you from sleeping?â, He knew just by looking at me that something was wrong. âYouâre worried, arenât you? â Trust me, Iâll always be by your side and make sure youâre safe! I wonât let anything happen to you!â, he promised.Â
âI know, but itâs not that. Iâm more worried about you! I don't want anything to happen to you!â. He just pulled me into his arms and leaned his head on mine. The fur around my shoulders could never warm me up like he could warm up not only my body but also my heart. âDonât worry so much about me, Iâll be fine. I have to be or else I would never get to do this again!â, he laid a hand on the back of my head and pulled me in a loving kiss.
_
âNow tell me, what else is it, youâre worried about?â, he asked me while pulling me back into his embrace.Â
âI was just thinking about my family and friends. Iâm already gone for a quite long time and Iâm wondering how lifeâs going for them.â, I snuggled up to him while looking into the distance remembering my life how it was before.Â
âDo you want to go back?â, as well lost in thought Hvitserk was staring down at me. He was worried I would actually leave him and all we had behind. His eyes reflected his worries for me to see as I looked up to him. âI would be lying if I said no but I wouldnât leave if that meant I wouldnât have you by my side. I want to go back, yes, but not without you!â, I looked at him intensely, âMy family and friends are very important to me but so are you! I would never give you up! Donât even think about it!â.Â
âIâm glad you say that. We just found each other; I donât want to let go of you.â, he emphasized.Â
âYou wonât need to besides I donât even know if Iâd ever have the chance to go back.â, I said watching my surroundings. Â Ivar was watching us from behind and as I noticed I lowered my voice not wanting him to grow more suspicious: âI still donât quite know how I got here and with it I have no clue how to go back.â.
_
It took quite a long time till we reached the port of our destination. I was glad to finally go off board and feel solid ground under my feet again. I was never a big fan of boat trips. That doesnât mean I hate them I just donât like the thought of being separated from land. âSo thatâs the kingdom of king Harald.â, I thought looking around while following king Haralds men. On our way we passed by people who were pulling a dead whale out of the water. As I was closely watching my surroundings, I understood that whaling was a peculiarity of that kingdom.
âSo, you want me and my warriors to support you when you attack Kattegat?!â, king Harald was sitting on his throne talking to Ivar and Hvitserk. I was just standing behind them next to a very few of Ivars men. Even if I could I should not interfere in their plan. No matter how I thought of the plan, I wasnât supposed to change the past and risk the future I know.
Quietly I just listened to their conversation until my name was mentioned. It was the first time Harald turned his attention to me and Ivar as well as Hvitserk turned around to look at me. Not quite sure what this was about I looked at them confused. âKing Harald may I introduce this woman to you. Thatâs Y/N. One day she suddenly turned up in York and since then sheâs with us.â, Ivar told him.Â
âItâs a pleasure to meet you, Y/N. Where are you from?â, Harald asked me.Â
Here we go again. I struggled for words and as Ivar took notice of it, he laughed. âShe wonât tell anyone! â Except for my brother. She might already have told him.â, Ivar leaned on his crutches and looked to his right to Hvitserk, âobviously you two are quite close.â.Â
I looked at Hvitserk waiting for his reaction. âShe didnât tell me!â, Hvitserk lied convincingly and I tried my best not to seem relieved by his answer, because there were still people watching me. Ivar was already suspecting me and now Harald grew suspicious as well. Thatâs also the reason why they forbid me going to Kattegat with them much to Hvitserks relieve. He was worried something could happen to me. âYou could get killed!â, he spoke to me. âI could get killed no matter where I am! I could die here as well as in battle!â, I answered. âYouâll be safe here! My men will protect you!â, Harald assured me.Â
_
The next days I always had the feeling of somebody watching me, but I couldnât tell whose pair of eyes it were which were watching me every step. I knew Harald and especially Ivar didnât trust me, but would they send someone to spy on me? Possibly yes. So, knowing I was being watched I behaved just like anyone else. Even in conversations I had with Hvitserk I was wary of saying anything about my past life. If we did talk about the future, we had to do it extremely secretly.
âYou wonât be gone by the time I come back, right?â, shortly before he had to leave, we were standing in the middle of our chamber embracing each other with the door closed behind us. He looked deeply into my eyes searching for assurance.Â
âNo, I wonât be gone! I will be right here thinking about you and waiting for you to safely return!â, I smiled up to him. He was already dressed in armor ready to fight. âPromise me to be careful! I donât want you to get hurt!â.Â
âI wonât, I promise! After all Iâm planning to tell you something important when I come back!â, he kissed my forehead before looking out of the window to the harbor. âI have to go now.â, Hvitserk sighed before he took my face in his both hands and kissed me lovingly.Â
âPromise me Iâll see you again!â, he pleaded me as if his life was depending on it. âI promise!â, I said before he went out. I would have never made that promise if I had known I couldnât keep it.Â
_
That night I didnât sleep peacefully. The fact that there was a man outside of my chamber making sure I wouldnât leave was definitely one possible reason for that as well as the full moon whose bright light was shining through the window, but the more decisive reason was the dream I had. I dreamed of my past life. It was a normal day at work. I served the last customer before I went into the cloakroom to take of my pharmacy smock and grab my bag. After I said goodbye to my co-worker, I left the pharmacy and hurried to the train station. My train would leave in exactly 13 minutes. I hurried along the streets until the loud sound of the church bells made me stop. The noise brought me to my knees, and I held my ears. The dream felt so real and the ringing of the bells were so loud as if they were directly next to me. As I woke up from that dream the noise immediately fell silent and I sighed relieved. Thank god it stopped. As I opened my eyes, I realized the noise wasnât the most shocking thing. It was the fact that I found myself standing in front of a modern church in the middle of a city I knew too well. Iâm still dreaming. With my eyes wide open I looked around and to my surprise I recognized every single building I saw. Am I back?  I didnât believe it until I got a message of a friend of mine. After I took out my phone and looked at the display I was startled. It was the exact same date I had seen my home for the last time. No wonder everything felt extremely familiar to me. Iâm back.
Thank you so much for reading and stay healthy everyone!đ

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 5
âHvitserk, my dear brother, what brings you here?â, Ivar leaned back in his throne curious about whatâs to come.
Surprised I looked behind me to find Hvitserk standing in the doorway. Â On the one hand I was glad to see him, glad that he was by my side but on the other hand I wasnât. I was mad at him for not trusting me at all and especially for being responsible for me being stuck in Ivars trap. He himself told me to better prepare myself for this kind of situation and not long afterwards I found myself being dragged into hell itself. I just had to add one and one together to know Hvitserk had something to do with it. If it was true, he clearly took advantage of my trust. Why was he here now? Perhaps he was wondering if I actually would give Ivar a different answer as I gave him to prove himself right.
Normally I would smile widely at him when he is approaching but this time, I just watched him with angry eyes.Â
âIvar, I need to talk to Y/N for a while!â, he spoke to Ivar shoving his hands in his pockets.
âWell, whatever it is you have to talk with her about, it must wait! Y/N and I are currently having an important conversation.â, Ivar refused his request but as if he didnât hear his words Hvitserk came to me and spoke up: âY/N Iâm really sorry!â. He really was. I could see regret in his eyes and movements.âLetâs go outside and have a talk!â, he suggested.
âDid you just ignore me brother? I saidâŚâ, Ivar was interrupted by Hvitserks voice echoing through the great room: âI clearly heard you, but you might have to postpone the conversation. I think she isnât ready yet! You canât just take her and squeeze out the information you want like sheâs some kind of fruit. She has to gain trust first, so give her a bit more time!â. âFine!â, Ivar said through clenched teeth obviously not pleased about his suggestion, âI warn you, brother! Donât you dare keep something from me!â.
As we stepped outside, I sighed with relief. I didnât think I would get out of this scarifying room alive. I had to thank Hvitserk but first, I wanted him to explain what he did. âHvitserk what on earth was that?â, I raised my voice hoping he would notice how mad I was at him.Â
âLetâs go to where we can talk more privately. The walls have ears, you know.â, he then turned around and went out of the gates towards the forest I came from earlier. Out of curiosity I instantly followed him. Also, I wanted us to be close again therefore I couldnât avoid talking to him.
We sat down on the tree trunk we sat on earlier that day facing each other. As I was about to question his doings, he got ahead of me: âTell me about the future! I want to know more about it!â.Â
He took me by surprise. âAll of a sudden youâre believing me? Really? What exactly is wrong with you, Hvitserk?â, I looked at him outraged, âat first you accuse me of lying to you, then you just leave me behind in the woods and as if that wasnât already enough you then helped Ivar to get to me. Do you want me to thank you now?â.Â
âI never helped him!â, he sighed, âWhen I entered the city I accidentally ran into Ivar. He just asked me where you are, and I told him. I was disappointed and angry. I couldnât think straight at that moment.â. I crossed my arms and looked at him closely. He was telling the truth at least he never looked away from me. âAnd what about now? What changed your mind?â.Â
âI donât know. What youâd told me is hard to believe. To be honest I still donât fully believe it, but Iâm trying to because itâs you who told me. I trust you, Y/N, youâd never lied to me. - I should have believed in you from the very beginning!â, he told me sincerely. He was sitting there tensely with his hands resting on his knees as he watched me.Â
I sighed. âI know how crazy it might sound. If I had been in your position I might have acted similarly.â, I noticed him relaxing and smiling a bit to himself, âbut I would never have questioned our relationship!â.Â
The smile on his lips disappeared as quickly as it appeared. âI really am sorry!â, he emphasized. âI know!â, I whispered reassuring and put my hand on his and then everything happened too fast for me to stop him.
Hvitserk turned his hand around to grab mine and pull me towards him. His movements were too fast for me to even realize what was happening. In the blink of an eye he was kissing me. At first, I was surprised but then after the feeling of butterflies in my stomach overcame me, I responded to the kiss and kissed him back. I officially failed at keeping a safe distance. The feelings we had for each other were obviously stronger than my self-control. Thank god they were, if not I never would have had the chance to feel the softness of his lips right on mine, which left a breathtaking tingle in my belly. I still felt it even after heâd pulled away. âNow you arenât mad at me anymore, are you?â, he grinned at me while putting my hand enclosed with his on his thigh.
I laughed knowing my cheeks were at least as red as a tomato. âIâm not! Even before you kissed me, I wasnât mad at you anymore!â.Â
âIs that so? If thatâs really the case I can take the kiss back then.â, he said pretending to be serious about it, âwhat are you waiting for Y/N? Give it back!â.Â
âEven if it was possible, I wouldnât even consider it!â, I told him and made him grin even wider. I just admitted I enjoyed the kiss, didnât I?Â
âIâm glad you say so, because I donât want it back! â To be honest Iâd rather enjoy more of it!â. With that even the last bit of self-control was gone. I knew someday I would regret it but, in that moment, I just couldnât think of anything but him.Â
_
âIâm curious. Howâs the future like?â, he turned his head in my direction to look at me. It was already getting dark outside, but we were still in the forest, where no one could see or hear us especially not Ivar. Thoughtful I stared into the woods.
âThe future is different. Even if you could see it you wouldnât recognize much of the world you know! Most people live in peace with one another instead of fighting each other for wealth and land.â, I told him.Â
Before he didnât believe me at all but now, he was bombarding me with questions. I answered most of them but there were a few I had to be careful answering. âCome on, tell me!â, he grabbed me by my hips and spun me around. We already talked for hours and were finally on our way back to the city, but he still couldnât stop asking more and more questions.Â
âI canât and I wonât! I donât want to be responsible for a change in future!â, I shook my head. Out of the blue he gave me a kiss, expecting me to soften up. âI could get used to it, but still I wonât tell you!â, I gave him a peck on the cheek before moving on without anymore questions coming from him. As we were walking our bodies were very close to each other. Our arms often touched and as they did, we immediately looked at each other and smiled. Everyone who was nearby would have known instantly we werenât just friends anymore but lovers.
We were walking down the long corridor of the great stone building on our way to Hvitserks chamber as we were stopped by Ivars voice. Hvitserk buried his face in my neck. The little kisses he spread all over my skin made me giggle. We were just enjoying our moment as we heard Ivar shouting after Hvitserk. âWhat is it Ivar?â, he grumbled visibly annoyed. âI have news you might be interested in!â, he went back into the great hall asking us to follow.
âSo, what news exactly do you have?â, Hvitserk was sitting on a wooden chair in front of Ivar. âWe will make an alliance with king Harald to attack Kattegat and to revenge our mother. Iâm sure heâll welcome it since he himself is interested in conquering Kattegat.â, Ivar answered while leaning back in his own chair. I was just standing next to Hvitserk listening to their conversation. âThatâs good. A bigger army means a higher chance of winning!â, he nodded, and I wondered if thatâs really what he wanted. âGreat!â, Ivar grinned satisfied. His blue sometimes scary eyes moved from Hvitserk to me and I knew that couldnât be a good sign. âIâd love you to join us on our raid, Y/N!â.
