หลังจากพบว่า Coach เองก็เป็น Product Owner ในอีกมุมหนึ่ง ผมมาถึงบางอ้ออีกครั้ง ในวันที่ 2 กับการเรียน Coaching & Leading Agility หลังจาก David Hussman พูดถึงสิ่งที่เขาเรียกว่า Outcome Driven Development

ถ้าในมุมของการทำ Product มันก็คือเรื่องเดียวกันกับ Lean Startup ที่บอกว่าแต่ละ Minimum Viable Feature (MMF) ที่เราผลิตออกสู่มือลูกค้านั้นต้อง validate ได้ว่ามันพิสูจน์สมมุติฐานเราอย่างไร ในตำรา Lean Startup บอกว่าให้เพิ่ม column ขึ้นมาอีกหนึ่ง column ใน Kanban Board ต่อจาก Done ว่า Validated กล่าวคือ Story หนึ่งจะไม่ได้จบแค่ขึ้น Production แต่จะจบเมื่อเกิด Validated Learning แล้วว่าตกลงไอ้ที่มโนไว้มันจริงไหม เรื่องนี้ David ตั้งชื่อเล่นๆว่า Kanban++

ถ้าคุณเข้าใจ WIP ใน Kanban คุณก็จะเข้าใจว่าถ้ายัง Validate ไม่ได้ ก็อย่าเพิ่งอุตริยัด feature ใหม่เข้าไปอีก!

David Hussman เป็นกูรูอไจล์ท่านหนึ่งที่ผมติดตามงานของเขามาตั้งแต่เริ่มศึกษาอไจล์ใหม่ๆ ผมได้รู้จักคำว่า Agile Coach ครั้งแรกก็มาจากเขา วันนี้โชคดีที่ได้มีโอกาสมาเข้าเรียน Coaching & Leading Agility กับ David ที่พัทยา ซึ่งเป็น workshop ปิดท้าย Scrum Coachng Retreat Asia Pacific

David บอกว่าโค้ชหน้าใหม่มักพยายามที่จะพยายามยัดใส่ practice มากมายให้ทีม โดยไม่ได้ดูบริบทว่าจริงๆแล้วทีมนั้นอาจจะไม่ได้ต้องการ Scrum หรือ Kanban เต็มรูปแบบ บางทีเขาอาจจะต้องการแค่ Standup กับ Task Board ก็ได้

คลาสนี้ทำให้ผมมองเห็นโค้ชในอีกมุมหนึ่งคล้ายๆกับ Product Owner ที่มี Product Backlog ของสิ่งที่อยากทำเต็มไปหมดแต่ก็ต้องเลือกสิ่งที่จะมี value กับธุรกิจมาทำก่อนเสมอ ในทำนองเดียวกัน Agile Coach ก็มี Practice Backlog อยู่เป็นกระบุง แต่ก็ต้องคัดสรรสิ่งที่เหมาะสมกับทีมตามบริบท การพยายามยัดเยียดจัดเต็มความเปลี่ยนแปลงมากไปบางครั้งอาจจะเป็นผลเสียให้เกิดแรงต้านจนสุดท้ายก็ไม่มีอะไรดีขึ้น ถ้าว่ากันด้วย Satir Change Model ทีมก็จะจมอยู่ใน Chaos ไปตลอด
