The barn is quiet now, the last vampire lying in pieces at Castielâs feet, but he doesnât feel like heâs won. Not with the rusted rebar driven clean through his back and out his sternum, his legs now trembling and breath shallowing by the second.
Heâs still standing - thatâs the cruel part. Cruciform against the splintered wood, held by some stupid instinct to stay upright. His hands twitch like they want to reach for a weapon, though thereâs nothing left to fight.
Light bleeds in around the edges first. White-gold at the corner of his vision, then green so pale it barely registers. It hums. His ears are ringing like birdsong, and the air thickens with the taste of petrichor.
He tries to focus as something comes together in front of him. The wings are what anchor it. They're broad, brilliant white that seem too large to fit in the space, the outer plumes kissed with iridescent green like emeralds. The body coalesces around them: tall, warm and freckled skin, eyes like a fresh forest. The mouth is soft, lips parted.
The name comes to Castiel like a memory from a dream, something in the shape of them feels like safety worn thin with time.
Dean.
Castiel breathes the word, barely more than a ghost of sound. The angel smiles, mournful and serene, the kind of sadness thatâs already made peace with the end. Dean steps closer, boots silent on the dirt floor, the glow of them softening. Their wings trail behind them like gauze, catching dust in the air, their tips brushing the ground. The scent of them is warm with sunlight and something green that Castiel canât quite name.
âItâs alright,â Dean murmurs, their voice rich and steady. âYou don't have to be afraid.â
And Castiel isnât. He trembles, hands loosening at his sides as the pain seeps from his body. The fear bleeds from him like water slipping between fingers. Whatâs left is only the weight of Deanâs gaze, the heat of their presence close enough to feel.
Dean reaches up, thumb brushing along Castielâs jaw. Their mouth hovers just shy of Castielâs, lips parted, and the light that coils from them drifts like a slow exhale of smoke curling outward.
Castiel's eyes fall closed as the honeyed light spills between his lips, warm and alive. It slips down his throat, filling him from within, and for the first time since the rebar split him open, he feels whole.

reverse au YAAY!!!! iâve been THINKIN about angel dean and i really wanted to draw it so i did :-) to me his vessel was similar to dean smith but more religious, hence the tie and stuff. if anyone has any headcanons about his personality (identical to canon, or different cause heâs an angel) id love to hear it!
âWho are you?â Castiel asks lowly. The man chuckles.
âMe?â The man shakes his head faintly. âItâs not obvious? Iâm the one who gripped you tight and raised your ass from perdition.â
Castiel freezes. A beat of silence - then;
âWell. You did your job.â
Castiel drives the blade into the manâs chest. Without flinching, the manâs eyes glance downward at the metal protruding from his chest as though it were nothing but a simple brush against his skin. He sighs. Bored. He pulls the blade out of his chest, and then and there, Castielâs frantic, unpleasant life flashes before his eyes as he readies himself for the man to strike back. But the man doesnât attack. He drops the blade to the floor.
I did a little graphic thingy for an au verse Iâm planning to write for these two. Angel!Dean and Hunter!Castiel are a weakness of mine. idk how much i like how this turned out but. its here.

Charlie sighed as she got up from the floor where she had been putting the finishing touches on a new layer of warding along the baseboard, when her phone rang.  She smiled when she saw Lestat, the name sheâd put on Samâs number, flashing on her screen.  Theyâd become good friends while working on the bullets for the Colt and that friendship had continued to grow over the last couple of months.  Without even realizing it she had become his unofficial liaison with the community of white witches that was slowly coming to trust the former hunter.  When some of the stories he told her sounded familiar, she talked to a friend who worked at a bookstore, who had pointed her to Carver Edlundâs Supernatural books.  Said friend had then given her the whole set as a birthday present.  Charlie had read them all, but never mentioned it to Sam.  Picking up her phone she thumbed the answer button.
âHey, Sammy, whatâs up,â she asked cheerfully.
Sam sighed, âNothing much, but I need you to meet with a friend and I.â
His tone of voice made her wonder what was going on. âSure, where and when?â
       âMy place, ASAP.â  He said.
Sam had gotten an apartment near-by after she had helped him set up a new identity and several backups just in case.  âGive me an hour.  I just finished that warding and need to clean up.â
âSee you then,â Sam replied and hung up the phone.  That made Charlie worry, Sam was never that abrupt unless something big was going on.  She hurried to get ready to go.
Forty-five minutes later she was sitting in Samâs living room with a soda sitting on the table next to her.  Sam was sprawled on the couch with his laptop finishing up some work on God knew what.  Eventually, he shut it down and looked over at her.
âSo,â he said.  âIâm gonna need to ask you not to freak out again.  This friend I want you to meet isnât exactly human.â
Charlie smiled at him, âDude, youâve introduced me to several other vampires, a couple of werewolves and your childhood imaginary friend.  Iâm not sure anything can freak me out at this point.â
Sam gave her a slightly evil grin and rolled his eyes. âWeâre ready Castiel, so if you can get away, now would be good.â
It was only a few minutes before there was a fluttering sound and a dark haired man just appeared in the room.  Charlie about jumped out of her skin when she saw the opalescent black, silver flecked wings behind him.  When Sam laughed at her she flipped him off, which just made him laugh harder.  But his laugh was infectious and eventually she joined in while Castiel just looked confused.  Eventually, they calmed down enough to talk but it took a while.
âCharlie, this is Castiel, angel of the Lord,â Sam said still smiling. âCas, meet Charlie Bradbury, white witch and computer genius.â
Castiel took Charlieâs hand in his as he said, âA pleasure to meet another member of Samâs team, Miss Bradbury.  Especially someone he has spoken so highly of.â
Charlie blushed a little under the angelâs grave, measuring look, âIâm just Charlie, unless Iâm at work.â
Cas nodded and turned to address Sam, âWeâre close, Sam.  Dean has narrowed his search for Charlie down to this city.â
Charlie felt the blood drain from her face, Sam had warned her that his brother was stubborn and wouldnât give up but she hadnât believed him.  Now the man was practically on her doorstep in spite of everything they had tried to muddle the trail.  Aware that she was being watched she took a deep breath.
âOOOkay,â she breathed out. âWhat do we do next?â
âI suggest that we have a plan in place for when Dean finds you,â Castiel said. âBecause unless he gets distracted by a case heâll find you within a week.â
âI canât stop him from finding you,â Sam added.  âSo we have to come up with a convincing story.â
She took another deep breath, then a third, closing her eyes to center herself.  When she opened her eyes, she managed to smile at the two men.  âIâm a terrible actress, but letâs do this.â
Sam smiled at her. âYou wonât have to act.  I can block your actual memories and implant others; Dean has a knack for telling when people are lying so you have to be telling the truth.  Before they leave, Cas will find an excuse to touch you and remove the block.â
Charlie stared at the two men and, not for the first time, wondered what sheâd gotten into with Sam.  It wasnât that she didnât trust him but she really didnât want anyone messing with her mind.  Heâd promised her once that he would never do anything without her permission unless it was an emergency: the problem was that they had never defined what constituted an emergency.  She mentally wrestled with the problem until she came to a conclusion. She decided to that Sam would never hurt her intentionally.  âLetâs do this then.â
A knock at her door drew Charlie out of the basement, she looked through the peephole in the door to see a tall, green eyed, light brown haired man and a slightly shorter dark haired blue eyed man both wearing dark suits standing there.  She opened the door as far as the chain lock would allow.
âWhat can I do for you, gentlemen,â she asked in a wary tone.
Both men flipped out ID cases and showed her FBI badges as the green eyed one said, âIâm Agent Claremont, this is my partner Agent Wein.  Weâd like to ask you a few questions about Samuel Winchester.â
Charlie thought for a minute. âOh, right.  Wanted some bullets for an 1835 Colt.  Give me a second.â
She closed the door and removed the chain lock, allowing the men to enter and led them to her living room.  She sat down in a chair, gesturing for the men to take the couch, eyeing them nervously.  âI sent the bullets through a messenger service, not the mail, so Iâm not sure what you want from me.â
âItâs not about the bullets, miss,â Agent Wein said taking a seat as Claremont looked at her bookcase.  âWeâre looking into Mr. Winchesterâs associates in connection with his death.â
âWhen was the last time you saw or spoke to him,â Claremont asked finally taking a seat.
âItâs been well over a year,â Charlie replied looking at him. âI spoke with him to let him know that Iâd gotten the letter he wanted sent with the bullets.  I emailed him when I sent the package in January but never got a reply.  He seemed like a good man.â
There was a flash of pain in Claremontâs face, âAnd why did it take so long to make the bullets?  Youâre supposed to be a master gunsmith.â
âThere were some very...esoteric things that needed to be done with those bullets,â she replied with a smile.
Agent Weinâs eyebrows shot up as she continued, âUnless you gentlemen are more open minded than you seem thatâs all Iâm going to say.  I do have to consider client confidentially.â
The two men stood, Agent Wein offering her his card. âIf you think of anything else or are contacted by another in regards to Mr. Winchester, please contact us.â
He managed to brush her hand with the tips of his fingers as she took it and Charlie felt a shock run across her nerves.  The world spun for just a minute, then righted itself and she heard Castielâs voice in her head, âYou did well, Charlie.  I look forward to working with you again.â
She closed the door behind the two men and looked around the room.  Everything seemed in order until she got to the book case.  The last book of the Supernatural series was gone from its spot in the book case. Â
âShit, shit, shit,â she whispered to herself reaching for her phone.  She tapped her foot nervously on the floor while she waited for Sam to answer the phone.  When he picked up she didnât even wait for him to say hello but rushed out the words, âSam, have you ever heard of a book series called Supernatural?â

This is your problem, Castiel. You have too much faith.
A demon Dean walks into a church confessionalâŠ
Youâll probably recognize his confession. Youâll probably recognize the priest, too.
Father Castiel is both a hunter and a priest and when Dean walks into his church, his life takes an unexpected turn. Castiel likes being around Dean, wants to be his friend. But he finds this man so⊠tempting.Â
I love a lead-Cas-into-temptation kind of story. Dean bats those pretty green eyes, pushes a little to get Cas to unearth his buried doubt and suddenly Cas is having all these rebellious thoughts.
This reverse verse AU is dark, compelling, and weaves canon into the story with great precision. I also love that Pastor Jim is a secondary character in this fic. We donât see him all that often.Â
Reading this story had me rubbing my hands together and going, âyes, yes, corrupt that hunter priest, Dean, yes,â the whole time. If that sounds like your thing, youâll love this fic!
The Good, The Bad and The Angel by shellygurumi

In January of 1862, Castiel died alongside Samuel Colt, trying to close the Devil's Gate in Sunrise, Wyoming. Only, he wasn't supposed to die. An Angel, Dean, rescued him from Hell and brought him back to Earth to finish his mission. Now, the Devil's Gate must be closed in order to prevent a grave disaster 150 years in the future. The demon, Alastair, however, will do anything to stop this from happening. Will the good guy be able to stop the bad guy with the help of the angel? Time will tell.
âMan, I would really love a Lazarus Rising retelling told as a Western where Dean is an angel and Cas is a hunter and where thereâs a little sprinkle of season two added to the plot to liven things up.â
This isnât something I said to myself before, but this fic gave me something I didnât know I wanted. The author weaves together all these elements perfectly, telling a creative and interesting tale.Â
Cas is well characterized as the grumpy guy we all love, and angel Dean is still unmistakably Dean. He even manages to make a few Back to the Future references (something that elevates a fic, if you ask me!). These are recognizably our boys, even in a different time and place. Ellen and Jo are prominent characters and remain the badass women we know and love. The prose does a great job speaking in the vernacular of the Western genre. I could practically hear The Good, the Bad and the Ugly whistles playing in the background as I read this.
This is the kind of fic that showcases what a unique medium fanfiction isâ where else could you get such a great mash up?
