“France is my hometown, and the size of Paris is like a little village compared to cities in China- they are completely different. I think Beijing has changed a lot within the 7 years I’ve been here. Coming halfway across the world to China was a bit of a gamble, but it’s been the bet of my life to come here- no regrets for the moment.”

Q: “What do you think about Beijing?”
A: “The education system here is much better in my opinion; it’s more rigorous and more selective on students. In the education system in the US, there are just too many students and too many colleges. There needs to be competition in order for the colleges to be selective on students.”
Q：“你觉得北京怎么样？”
A：“我觉得这里的教育系统更好，它更有选择性，竞争更激烈。在美国的教育系统中，学生和大学的数量都太多了。毕竟有竞争才能择优录取。”
"Do you have any regrets?"
"Yes, I do, but I believe we only lose certain things because there will be better things waiting for us in the future. This is why I don't have many regrets. But if I have to say one, it would be not studying hard enough. I don't think I realized the importance of studying when I was younger. If I had studied harder and had a better academic background, maybe I would have been a better person today. "
“您有什么后悔的事情么？”
“我是有后悔的事情，但是我一直相信失去的都是因为未来会有更好的，所以我基本上没有什么很大的遗憾。 要是非要说什么最遗憾，那就是没有好好读书。 我觉得人在当下时很有可能不会意识到学习这件事的重要性，要是我当时好好读书了，有一个很好的学业，可能今天的我会更好。”
Q: “How do you find Beijing?” A: "Um…Well…We’ve been here for quite a while...The food here is quite cheap." Q:" Do you two have any regrets in life?"
A: "Nope, we never leave any regrets after we did something." Q: "No regrets? How do you maintain such a positive attitude?A: You just have to place yourself in the right place. To be honest, there are a lot of talented people here in Beijing." Q: "There are a lot of competitions here nowadays; do you guys feel stressful living here?" A: "Well actually, the only stress I have over is from housing; the prices are too expensive." Q：“您觉得北京怎么样?” A：“嗯。。怎么样啊。。呆习惯了。。。北京吃饭挺便宜的。” Q：“你们两个一生中有没有什么特别后悔的事？” A：“没有，做了一件事就不会后悔。” Q：“从不后悔是吗？您有这么好的一个心态，秘诀是什么啊？” A：“一定要把心态摆正。因为在北京，说实在的，有才的人非常多。” Q：“现在北京的竞争非常激烈，你们会觉得有压力吗？” A：“其实北京给我唯一的压力就是住房，房价太贵了。”

“What is your opinion of present-day Beijing?” “It is definitely better than before. The environment, sanitation, administration etc. are all better than before.”
“Do you prefer the modern Beijing or the old Beijing?” “It would be useless even if I did prefer the old Beijing, as it has already modernised. The courtyard houses we lived in didn’t have bathrooms, heaters and such; now, every household has one, making it no different to living in buildings, maybe even better. These are just interior changes, but the exterior of the courtyard houses hasn't changed much. Life is more convenient now.”
“您怎么看待现在的北京？” “肯定是比以前更好了。环境、卫生、管理各方面的都比以前好了。”
“您更喜欢现在的北京还是以前的老北京呢？”
“就算喜欢老北京也没有用了，北京都已经往现代化发展了。以前居住在四合院里没有洗手间啊暖气什么的；现在家家户户都有了，和住楼房没有什么区别，甚至比住楼房都好了。但是这些只是内部改造，四合院外貌是没什么变化的。生活更加便捷了。”
Q: “Do you have pets?” A: “Right now I’ve been taking care of a puppy. I didn’t purchase the pup, according to my husband it is when he went to the mail office to take care of some businesses, he left his bike outside the mail office. After the business has been taken care of, he found a little puppy in his bicycle basket. He immediately felt affinity with the puppy, and nobody came to take the pup home, so he took in the pup himself. I don’t know if this is true, and now it has been one year since I got the pup.”
Q: “What is your reaction when the puppy was brought home?” A: “Actually I didn’t really like the puppy, I told him to give the pup away quickly, but his father said he felt affinity with the pup. Anyways, the more I take care of this puppy the more I liked the puppy, and now the puppy is part of my family.”
“你有宠物吗？” “现在家里养着小狗；不是买的。据我老公说是在邮局的门口他去办事的时候， 自行车放在邮局的外面。办完事出来后，发现自己的自行车筐子里放了只小狗，他马上就觉得和这只狗有缘。 没有人来抱走这只小狗，他就给抱回来了。我也不知道是真是假，现在已经养了一年了。”
“把狗抱回来的第一个反应是什么？” “其实一开始我不喜欢啊，我跟我老公说:”你赶紧送回去”，结果他说跟它有缘。反正我是越养越喜欢，而它也成为了家里的一员。”
