What Ettie wasn't prepared for was the static. She'd been in the receiving end of so many little shocks that sent her hair flying she almost didn't jump anymore. The weirder thing was that she hadn't experienced any such static in the first year of their partnership, but, over the past few weeks, it happened multiple times a day and usually when she was being handled by Moonrock, Barrage, and Blast Master. Although it has occasionally happened with Heave, once or twice with Phaser, and only once with Missile Master. But it always when they were touching their head to hers. She was a little tired of it.

When the next time happened as Blast Master was carrying her to a cliff he found, she couldn't hold back anymore. "Ow! Hey, what's going on?"

Blast Master pulled back, straightening up to look at her. "What do you mean?"

"Why do you guys keep shocking me? You didn't used to do it and, from what I've seen of all your latest diagnostics, you don't have any shorts or anything. What's up?"

"Oh!" Blast jerked back and looked from side to side, looking for all the world like he wanted someone else to deal with the question. "Um, ah! Well, this is awkward. I, um, I thought you knew! They were supposed to make sure you knew all about Cybertronian stuff."

Ettie frowned and folded her arms. "They didn't cover whatever this is."

If he were human, Blast would probably be 20 different shades of blushing. She could feel his fingers twitching and he kept avoiding looking directly at her. "But-but you sparked on me first!"

"I-" She blinked. "I what on you?"

"Sparked," he repeated, his voice much quieter, "You really don't know? It's a, um--oh, why couldn't you ask Phaser this?"

Well, it would seem she'd have to ease him along. She put a hand on his chassis and rubbed a light circle. "Because we're friends and I trust you too, Blast."

He straightened up a bit. "Well, I guess when you put it that way..." His words trailed off. "It's a form of affection between Cybertronians. When you touch against someone--sometimes with your hand but usually from your face or head--you can give them a light little shock. You only do it with your loved ones." His lips twisted in a frown. "I got really excited when you sparked on me because humans don't have a lot of electricity and I thought that'd never be something you could do. But then you gave me a little spark a few weeks ago and I thought maybe you had come to really think of me as one of your loved ones." The line of his lips drew in tight.

"Hey, hey, hey," Ettie said, leaning in to rub a soothing circle higher on his chest. His face was just too high from this angle. "I'm sorry. Sparking on you was an accident." She rushed to continue when his chin dipped. "But! But I do think of you and the others as my loved ones."

Blast's eyes brightened as he perked up. "You really mean that?"

"Yeah."

Lowering his head, he brushed his face against her and gave her a little shock of static. "Now let's go see that cliff!"
