Her legs are laid comfortably over Bruce's lap, and Loki's head is nestled in the pillows on one end of the couch. Finally, it's at peace again, something she needed desperately, even if it has its quirks, like the fact that they're watching a documentary on bioluminescent marine life for the fourth time that week because she's a little obsessed with it at the moment, and the fact that there's a plate on the coffee table with three grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches stacked tidily for her.
Next to them is her phone, which buzzes abruptly in the middle of the segment on the Halicreas minimum, which is one of her favorites. "Pause it," she insists immediately, and answers the phone to hear the familiar voice of Dr. Jameson. It always takes him a little longer to manage her tests because he handles it himself, knowing she isn't quite human, but she trusts him implicitly.
Loki listens to him cover her results, everything normal, iron a little low, et cetera. She mouths it silenty to Bruce as the doctor goes on, numbers and short explanations of "That's normal," and "That's a bit off but you mentioned some nausea," and then the strange, "Would you like to know why you've been feeling a little sick lately?"
Finally, an answer. "Of course," she says, giving Bruce a puzzled look because the volume on the phone is just loud enough that he might have heard, and Dr. Jameson's pleased voice tells her exactly why.
Loki drops the phone.
