James is nearly frantic as he rushes through the crowd of people gratefully hugging one another in the wake of the end of the battle and the end of a decade-long war.
They won.
He should be happy, but he wouldn’t be happy until he has his sights set on Sirius. The last he’d seen of him, he’d been fighting for his life against more than one enemy, but they’d gotten separated. He needed to make sure that his boyfriend is okay and then, he could celebrate.
He runs to where he saw him last, only he can’t see him.
He spins around and around, confused.
Where the hell is Sirius?
Just as he’s about to run blindly in any direction to find him when he hears someone yelling from his left.
He turns and there’s Sirius, looking a little worse for wear, but happy and alive.
James runs straight into his arms, hugging him as tightly as humanly possible. He wants nothing more than to never let go, but he hears Sirius chuckling.
“Trying to knock the wind out of me, Jay?”
James laughs as he pulls back but doesn’t let go. “When I could see you where I left you, I thought you were dead.”
Sirius smiles. “Still kicking, love. I promise.”
“Good.”
He gives him a kiss.
“Time to celebrate.”
