That’s an interesting question. It’s perhaps impossible to know if Logan would have even developed his sense of outrage at the treatment monochromes receive if he didn’t at one point look like a monochrome. If he’d developed a gradient on the tops of his wings, it’s possible he might have ended up taking advantage of the popularity and acclaim it brought him. 

Then again, you may be right as well. He may have been pissed. It’s hard to say, because personality doesn’t develop in a vacuum, and as tempting as it is to assume that Logan would have always been a crusader against the absurdity of the wing popularity system, it’s impossible to discount the possibility that he would have fallen into the system that favored him without a second thought, if he hadn’t tasted some of the disdain he received as someone who was assumed to be a monochrome. 

The issue with systemic oppression is that privilege is invisible to the people who have it. That’s part of why Logan is so uniquely able to see the injustices of that system. He is an invisible member of the oppressor class, and treated like a member of the oppressed class, and that combination of factors led to his disdain for the entire system. 

But yeah, it’s super easy to turn a blind eye to the system that favors you personally, and to come to the conclusion, even unconsciously, that you somehow earned the advantages you’re getting, and everyone else is at fault on a personal level for not having earned the same.

vehicles exist but in the form of public transportation–monorails, mostly. They’re energy-efficient and fast. There are also airplanes but they’re mostly only used for overseas flights–on land, people travel by rail. Cars aren’t a thing because over short distances folks prefer to fly, and designing a car would’ve been complicated based on the size and bulk of the average person’s wings. 

In this society, 99.9% of people can and do fly once they’re old enough. The inability to fly as an adult is rare. Unfortunately, the society is pretty ableist about it; there aren’t many additional accommodations for those who can’t fly.

The easiest one to fix would be for those with only one wing as you could add either a sort of cable harness like some prosthetic arms work or they could react to the residual muscles from the amputated limb. For double amputees it could work much the same with the residual muscles controlling the wings. Now those without wings would be a bit more difficult you could either surgically connect them to the brain and control them that way or have them rely on the movement of, perhaps, the shoulder,

Then there was the problem with learning to use them/ adjusting to the extra weight (which i would imagine would be like carrying a pile of wet towels around). I think Patton, being a carrier, and Virgil, having experienced the transition, would be the ones to teach them how to work the wings. (As you can tell i’m really invested in this AU, so this was really long.)
